Abstract: To solve such a problem that it takes time to display a print setting display screen of a virtual printer to which functions of member printer drivers having different characteristics have been reflected, in an information processing apparatus for making job control of the virtual printer constructed by a plurality of member printers, a conflicting process based on each function of the plurality of member printers is executed, a construction of the member printers is examined in association with display control for reflecting a conflict result to a setting display screen of the virtual printer, and control is made to as to visualize an advance situation of the conflicting process on the basis of an examination result.

Abstract: This invention allows the user to easily make an edit operation of a template even when the functions of a printing apparatus have changed. This invention is directed to an information processing apparatus, which is connected to a printer and edits a template that designates functions to be executed by the printer upon printing, including a unit which acquires information associated with newly executable functions by a newly connected printer, and a unit which generates a template that designates the acquired functions.

Abstract: The present invention intends to improve usability in entering print data using a hot folder. If exceptional setting for the page is set in the print setting, which is to be applied to the print data entered into the folder, when it is detected that the print data is entered into the folder, the total number of pages of the print data is calculated, and whether the calculated total number of pages fulfills the exceptional setting in the print setting or not is determined. If the calculated total number of pages fulfills the exceptional setting according to the determination, the print job including the print data and the setting of the print setting is generated. If the calculated total number of pages does not fulfill the exceptional setting, the print setting and the print data are matched.

Abstract: A client computer has a group printer driver which provides an interface as one printer driver by comprehensively managing a plurality of registered member printer drivers. When a member printer driver is designated on the designating user interface, the individual user interface of the designated member printer driver is presented to make it possible to set individual items. In accordance with managed history information for the first printer, the proxy printing system detects whether a printer that has previously processed a print job as a proxy for the first printer exists out of the networked printers. In the redirect-on-error print system, a print job is transmitted to one of a plurality of printers connected to a network. When a print error has occurred in the printer, processing is executed to cause another printer to execute redirect-on-error printing of the print job. Abstract: When registration of favorite is designated in a group printer driver capable of comprehensively controlling a plurality of member printer drivers, a name input window is presented. When the name of the favorite is input, DEVMODE information is acquired from each member printer driver in the present member printer configuration (e.g., printers A, B, and C). These pieces of DEVMODE information are registered in one-to-one correspondence with printer IDs. If the registered favorite is designated, the registered DEVMODE information is transferred to each registered member printer driver to restore the set state. This provides a mechanism capable of efficient printing setting for a plurality of printer drivers.
