    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a document tray in which a document is to be set, a medium container that contains a recording medium, a document detection sensor that detects a document set in the document tray, a medium detection sensor that detects a recording medium contained in the medium container. A hardware processor executes a copy operation of forming an image obtained by scanning a document set in the document tray on a recording medium, determines to automatically execute the copy operation in case an elapsed period of time between a document detection time when a document is detected by the document detection sensor and a medium detection time when a recording medium is detected by the medium detection sensor is equal to or smaller than a predetermined operation period of time, and automatically executes the copy operation based on determination of automatic execution of the copy operation.

    Abstract: An image scanning apparatus includes a transport roller transporting an original, a CCD scanning a first side of the original, a CIS scanning unit scanning a second side of the original, and a flap for reversing the original and sending the original to a transport path. A CPU controls the transport roller, the CCD and the CIS scanning unit to scan each side of the original. The CPU determines from the result of scanning whether or not each side of the original includes a predetermined pattern. When the CPU cannot identify from the result of scanning of the second side whether or not the second side includes a predetermined pattern, the CPU controls the flap and a transport unit to reverse the original and cause the CCD to scan the second side.

Image data and the like are transferred and stored in the memory area of an external memory device, and the data name and storage destination of the stored data are recorded on a portable memory medium. Since the data name and storage destination are recorded in the portable memory medium, there is less concern that the data name and storage destination will become known to users other than the user possessing the portable memory medium, thus ensuring data security compared to when such data are stored in the data processing device. Moreover, because there is no need to store the data name and storage destination in the data processing device, the complex controls required for displaying the stored data names and the like on the display panel are unnecessary.

An image read apparatus is provided that can prevent generation of a black streak or a white streak on a readout image caused by the presence of dust at the readout position, and that can improve the picture quality of the entire image.
