Abstract: A two-cycle crankcase compression internal combustion engine for use in an outboard motor that facilitates the use of low quality fuels by providing a carburetor that discharges fuel directly into one of the transfer passages of the engine. The transfer passages and carburetors are disposed so that the carburetors may extend horizontally and permits the use of a plurality of carburetors, one spaced above the others.

Abstract: A fuel supplying device for an internal combustion engine and particularly the engine of an outboard motor operating on the two-stroke principle. The engine is provided with a charge forming device and induction system that is supplied with a liquid fuel having a quality lower than gasoline. A source of pressurized gaseous fuel is also provided for selectively supplying a higher quality fuel to the engine under certain running conditions.

Abstract: Several embodiments of charge forming devices including improved accelerating pumps wherein the discharge of fuel from the accelerating pump is extended in time through the use of an accumulator chamber. In addition, the accelerating pump has an upstream and downstream discharge port. The accumulator chamber is also adapted to discharge fuel into the induction passage during extreme deceleration so as to improve engine running and prevent stalling under these circumstances.

Abstract: A fuel supplying system for a two-cycle crankcase compression internal combustion engine. A first charge forming device supplies a fuel/air charge to the crankcase and a second charge forming device supplies a fuel/air charge to the scavenge passage that connects the crankcase with the combustion chamber. A check valve is positioned in the scavenge passage so as to prevent reverse flow and the discharge of the second charge forming device is related to the check valve so as to improve the fuel delivery.

Abstract: An improved two-barrel, multi-fuel carburetor. The carburetor comprises a main body portion in which the main fuel bowl is positioned and an auxiliary body portion in which an auxiliary fuel bowl is positioned. All of the fuel and air passages extending between the main and auxiliary body portions extend through faces of the respective body portions that are in facing engagement when the auxiliary body portion is affixed to the main body portion so as to eliminate the necessity for external plumbing. Also, an improved arrangement is provided for preventing the discharge of fuel from the auxiliary fuel discharge under some engine running conditions. The carburetor also employs a simplified accelerating pump discharge that uses only a single accelerating pump discharge tube that extends completely through one of the induction passages and which terminates in the other induction passage and has discharge ports in both induction passages.
