Patent number: 7074101Abstract: A method of manufacturing a plasma display panel, whose glass substrate is not tinged and luminance is high, is provided, even when silver material is used. A layer including silver compounds, which include sulfur generated on a surface of an electrode by reacting on sulfur in air, is removed before a forming process of a dielectric layer. Then decomposition of the compound is restricted in a firing process of the dielectric layer. Even when the electrode having the silver material with high electrical conductivity is used, yellow coloration on the glass substrate is prevented. As a result, a high quality plasma display panel which does not decrease in luminance is provided.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2003Date of Patent: July 11, 2006Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Daisuke Adachi, Keisuke Sumida, Hideki Ashida, Morio Fujitani

Patent number: 7053552Abstract: It is aimed to provide a technique for easily suppressing swellings produced in end parts of partitions, thereby achieving a PDP capable of displaying a high-quality image. A PDP therefore has a plurality of partitions that include: (a) a plurality of main parts; and (b) a plurality of sub parts that each extend from an end part of one of the plurality of main parts parallel to a direction perpendicular to a direction in which the main parts extend. This allows each partition to have an end that is wider than a center part of the partition. In the process of forming PDP partitions, end parts of the partitions are partially heated, after they are baked, to a temperature higher than a softening point of a partition material. As a specific partial heating method, a method with which a laser beam is projected onto an end part is suitable.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2003Date of Patent: May 30, 2006Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hiroyuki Yonehara, Hideki Ashida, Shinya Fujiwara, Yasuyuki Akata, Sadao Uemura, Shigeo Suzuki

Patent number: 7040947Abstract: A method of manufacturing at least two layer electrodes that can be utilized, for example, as bus and data electrodes in a plasma display device, includes depositing each layer in a coating step and subsequently exposing the layers at the same time for development. The layers are subsequently baked at the same time. One layer can be thinner than the other layer during a time period between the developing step and the baking step.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2005Date of Patent: May 9, 2006Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hideki Ashida, Junichi Hibino, Keisuke Sumida, Mitsuhiro Ohtani, Shinya Fujiwara, Hideki Marunaka, Tadashi Nakagawa

Publication number: 20050181697Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing electrodes that can effectively suppress edge-curl when metal electrodes such as bus electrodes and data electrodes are patterned mainly by a photolithography method. In order to achieve the above object, in the manufacturing method in the present invention, an amount of undercut generated by difference in a degree of dissolution caused by developing solution is controlled, and baking is performed at a temperature such that glass in a protrusion formed at side edges becomes soft so as to touch a substrate by gravity. With such method for manufacturing, it becomes possible to make the side edges rounded whose curvature changes continuously.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2005Publication date: August 18, 2005Inventors: Hideki Ashida, Junichi Hibino, Keisuke Sumida, Mitsuhiro Ohtani, Shinya Fujiwara, Hideki Marunaka, Tadashi Nakagawa

Patent number: 6646376Abstract: A plasma display panel is formed with a plurality of partitions that include a plurality of main parts and a plurality of subparts that can extend from an end part of one or more of the plurality of main parts in a direction perpendicular to the main parts, to thereby provide an end part that is wider than a central part of the partition. The increased size of the end parts prevent swellings that may occur during the production process. Additionally, as part of the method of forming the partitions, the end parts of the partitions can be further partially heated to a temperature higher than a softening point of the partition material, for example, by an application of energy from a laser beam to further address the swelling problem.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2001Date of Patent: November 11, 2003Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hiroyuki Yonehara, Hideki Ashida, Shinya Fujiwara, Yasuyuki Akata, Sadao Uemura, Shigeo Suzuki
