  • Patent number: 4974221
Abstract: This invention relates to an information reproducing method and apparatus in which a phase locked loop (PLL) circuit produces a clock signal from a reproduced signal and includes a sensitivity varying mechanism. The sensitivity of the PLL circuit is increased or decreased relative to when a tracking error signal is low or high, respectively. Further, if the reproduced signal drops, the frequency and phase of the clock signal are held. Then, immediately after the reproduced signal is regained and the hold is released, the sensitivity of the PLL circuit is lowered to a value less than that prior to the drop in the reproduced signal.
