    Abstract: A transmission device includes a plurality of ports, a first conversion circuit that converts a frame that is input to any one of the plurality of ports and does not include a destination address of a network layer into a packet including the destination address of the network layer, a specification circuit that specifies a port corresponding to the destination address of the network layer of the packet that is converted by the first conversion circuit among the plurality of ports, a second conversion circuit that converts the packet into the frame that does not include the destination address of the network layer, and an output control circuit that causes the frame that is converted by the second conversion circuit to be output from the port that is specified by the specification circuit.

    Abstract: An RPR transmission route designation method and apparatus in a system including a control device connected to an RPR having communications routes in both the counterclockwise and clockwise directions and connecting a plurality of RPR stations, wherein each RPR station sets a cleave point for discarding flooded RPR frames in the case of a bidirectional communication system on a route not desired for use for communication on the RPR, floods both the counterclockwise and clockwise directions of the RPR with RPR frames to learn the MAC address at each RPR station, and transmits the received RPR frames by a communication route which the flood of RPR frames reach based on the learned results of the MAC addresses, whereby it is possible to designate RPR transmission routes supported by layer 2/3 switches, transmission devices, and the like in line with the carrier operations.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a layer 2 network. The invention provides a setting control device for layer 2 devices that simultaneously sets the same data to plural layer 2 devices provided in a network such as a broadband Ethernet and an enterprise LAN. The setting control device for layer 2 devices includes: a unit that confirms that a reception frame is a control frame including setting control information of layer 2 devices; a unit that transfers the control frame including the setting control information, after the control frame is confirmed; and a setting unit that sets the setting control information to the own layer 2 device, after the control frame is transferred. The transfer unit broadcasts the control frame to be transferred.
