  • Patent number: 7343235
Abstract: In a passenger restraint device for an automotive vehicle, when the relative speed of the vehicle with respect to a crash object changes as a result of a driving maneuver of the vehicle performed before a crash, the actual crash time deviates from an estimated crash time calculated from the distance and the relative speed of the vehicle and the crash object. To resolve this, the actuation timing, actuation rise time and seat belt tension of a seat belt reeling-in device are varied on the basis of information relating to a deceleration rate that is a rate of decrease of the relative speed.

  • Patent number: 7299118
Abstract: An occupant protection apparatus appropriately protects occupants of a vehicle, when a vehicle crush occurs, without requiring a troublesome task to the occupants. The occupant protection apparatus is provided with a steering angle sensor, a distance sensor and a brake depressing amount sensor. An electronic control unit predicts a vehicle crash based on the detection signals of each sensor so as to set a tension applied to a driver seat seatbelt to be smaller than a tension applied to passenger seat seatbelts. Additionally, the electronic control unit increases the tension applied to the seatbelts when a temperature detected by an outside-temperature detection sensor and/or an inside-temperature detection sensor is low.

  • Publication number: 20060237960
Abstract: A seatbelt apparatus includes an electric motor 20 for winding a seatbelt 12, and a microcomputer 30 for controlling the electric motor 20. The microcomputer 30 controls the electric motor 20 so as to wind the seatbelt 12 at a winding load which increases to a first winding load at a first rising gradient when collision is detected using a detected length and a detected vehicle velocity by a length sensor 41 and a vehicle velocity sensor 42. The microcomputer 30 controls the electric motor 20 so as to wind the seatbelt 12 at a winding load which increases to a second winding load which is larger than the first winding load at a second rising gradient which is larger than the first rising gradient when an emergency braking operation is detected by detection signal from a brake switch 43. Therefore, the seatbelt can be wound at a winding mode and a winding load which can protect a passenger without giving much feeling of discomfort.

  • Patent number: 7050231
Abstract: A Faraday rotator of multilayer film type is provided which can achieve excellent optical characteristics with a reduced number of layers. In the Faraday rotator, a metal reflection film, a periodic dielectric multilayer film made of silicon dioxide SiO2 and tantalum pentoxide Ta2O5, a magneto-optical thin film, and another periodic dielectric multilayer film made of tantalum pentoxide Ta2O5 and silicon dioxide SiO2 is formed sequentially. Light incident on a polarizer goes therethrough, is reflected at the metal reflection film while traveling trough the periodic dielectric multilayer films, and goes through an analyzer to exit out.

  • Patent number: 6939607
Abstract: A ceramic cutting tool including a ceramic base member 4 of a tool main body 1 which is formed of a composite ceramic which contains a hard phase dispersed within an alumina matrix phase. The hard phase contains, as a predominant component, one or more elements selected from hard-phase-forming metal elements M in the form of at least one of a carbide, nitride, or boride, or in the form of a solid solution of at least two selected from the carbide, nitride and boride. The hard-phase-forming metal elements M include Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W and Si. The surface of the ceramic base member 4 is covered with a coating layer 1f, which contains titanium carbonitride or titanium nitride as a predominant component. The coating layer 1f has an average crystal-grain size of 0.1 to 0.5 ?m as observed on the surface, and an average thickness of 0.5 to 2 ?m. The coating layer 4f is formed by a CVD at a low to medium temperature range of 750 to 900° C.

  • Publication number: 20040248047
Abstract: A thin-film pattern is formed by a method comprising the steps of: (a) applying general purpose novolak based photoresist on a substrate thereby forming a photoresist film; (b) patterning the photoresist film; (c) forming a dielectric multi-layer film (Ta2O5/SiO2) by a PND method so as to entirely cover the substrate including portions occupied by the patterned photoresist film, while the substrate is heated up to 200 to 350 degrees C.; and (d) immersing the substrate in a compound liquid which is made up such that oxidizing agent (hydrogen peroxide, or nitric acid) is mixed with sulfuric acid with a mixing ratio of the oxidizing agent to the sulfuric acid set preferably at 1/5 or less in terms of volume, whereby the photoresist film is dissolved and the dielectric multi-layer formed on the photoresist film is lifted off from the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6785037
Abstract: A Faraday rotator of multilayer film type is provided in which satisfactory optical characteristics are obtained with a small number of layers. In the Faraday rotator, a first periodic dielectric multilayer film made of silicon dioxide SiO2 and tantalum pentaoxide Ta2O5 is formed on a substrate, then a magneto-optical thin film, and a second periodic dielectric multilayer film made of tantalum pentaoxide Ta2O5 and silicon dioxide SiO2 are formed sequentially. The first and second periodic dielectric multilayer films sandwich the magneto-optical thin film such that their respective higher refractive dielectric thin films are in contact with the magneto-optical thin film. The number of layers of the first periodic dielectric multilayer film is larger than that of the second periodic dielectric multilayer film.
