    Abstract: The inventive vehicle braking control device performs a brake assist control of increasing a braking force for avoiding a collision of a vehicle at a more appropriate time. The device comprises a portion which acquires an estimated time until a vehicle reaches to an obstacle; a portion which judges based on a braking operation amount and a braking operation speed value if the driver performed an urgent braking operation; and a portion which determines the start of a braking force assist control when an urgent braking operation is judged in a case that the estimated time is less than a first predetermined time, wherein, if the estimated time is less than a second predetermined time shorter than the first predetermined time, the urgent braking operation is judged when the braking operation amount exceeds a threshold value irrespective of the braking operation speed value.

    Abstract: A power steering device is provided which is capable of preventing a wrong operation from occurring in a steering control state even when an initial torque of torque detection was not detected normally due to a human error. Upon receipt of a trigger signal, a CPU reads an initial setting program from a program storage area of a ROM and executes the initial setting program in the following order of steps. That is, the CPU detects by torque detection an initial torque which is generated primarily by the cause of the difference between origin positions of a pair of resolvers 12, 12 which together with a torsion bar constitutes the torque detection. Then, the CPU operates an assist motor to rotate a steering handle from a neutral position a predetermined rotational angle in one direction about the handle axis to stop the steering handle at a first judgment position and detects a first judgment torque value by the torque detection with the steering handle being stopped at the first judgment position.

    Abstract: A power steering device is provided which is capable of detecting an initial torque of torque detection means precisely in a short period of time in the initial setting therefor. In detecting the initial torque of the torque detection means, assist power generating means such as an electric motor for applying assist power to a handle shaft is used to rotate a steering handle within a minute rotational range in positive and negative-going directions from a neutral position in the steering direction. The rotation of the steering handle in this initial setting is performed so that the amplitude of the repetitive rotations in the positive and negative-going directions are decremented as time passes. Then, an output of the torque detection means is detected as the initial torque with the steering handle being held stationarily at the neutral position.
