  • Publication number: 20010012740
Abstract: An outboard engine comprises: a power unit including a body structure, an engine (10) disposed in an upper portion of the body structure, a propeller shaft (25) supported for rotation on a lower portion of the body structure so as to be driven by the engine (10), and a cowling (5) detachably attached to the body structure so as to cover the engine (10) from above and to defining a part of an engine room (6). A tilt bracket (35) connected to the body structure of the power unit is connected pivotally to a stern bracket (36) clamped to a boat by a tilt shaft (37). The cowling (5) is provided integrally with a tilt handle (80) to be gripped by hand when tilting the power unit, and an air inlet structure (70) through which air is introduced into the engine room (6).

  • Patent number: 6013928
Abstract: An insulated-gate field-effect transistor adapted to be used in an active-matrix liquid-crystal display. The channel length, or the distance between the source region and the drain region, is made larger than the length of the gate electrode taken in the longitudinal direction of the channel. Offset regions are formed in the channel region on the sides of the source and drain regions. No or very weak electric field is applied to these offset regions from the gate electrode.

  • Patent number: 5950601
Abstract: In this fuel injection system, a larger-diameter portion and a smaller-diameter portion which constitute each intensifying piston are brought into contact with a convex surface, whereby the bending of the smaller-diameter portion can be prevented when an external force exerted on the larger-diameter portion causes it to incline. The smaller-diameter portion and larger-diameter portion are formed separately, urged by a return spring and engaged with each other. Even when an injector body is inclined due to an external force and thermal stress to cause the larger-diameter portion to nearly follow up the inclining of the injector body, a contact point of the flat bottom surface of the larger-diameter portion and the convex top surface formed on the smaller-diameter portion is merely shifted due to the rolling of these surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5896841
Abstract: In an electronically controlled hydraulic actuation type fuel injection device, a viscosity value (mu) of hydraulic oil is detected by an oil viscosity detection sensor and then an aimed base valve opening time T.sub.injBASE during which a solenoid valve of a unit injector to be kept open is corrected based on the detected viscosity value. Lubricating oil for lubricating an engine is used as the hydraulic oil. The oil viscosity detection sensor includes an oil pump for supplying the lubricating oil to each sliding part of the engine and an oil sensor for detecting a delivery pressure Po of the oil pump. All of the sliding parts of the engine is regarded as one "throttle" and the viscosity (mu) of the hydraulic oil is determined according to a pre-prepared map from the engine speed Ne and the delivery pressure Po, utilizing change in passage resistance at the "throttle" caused by oil viscosity change.

  • Patent number: 5743234
Abstract: In this fuel injector for internal combustion engines, a pressure chamber is provided at an end portion of a pressure increasing piston which is adapted to increase the pressure of a fuel in a pressure increasing chamber, and a hollow portion which is on the back side of the pressure increasing piston is opened to the atmospheric air through communication ports formed in an injector body. The pressure increasing piston comprises a small-diameter portion of a plunger which defines a part of the pressure increasing chamber, a large-diameter portion of a piston which defines a part of the pressure chamber, and a guide ring portion extending downward from the whole circumference of the large-diameter portion and forming a sliding surface with respect to a hollow. The hollow portion is provided with a return spring for biasing the pressure increasing piston toward the pressure chamber.

  • Patent number: 5261156
Abstract: An integrated circuit is mounted on and electrically connected to an electric device with an adhesive therebetween. The adhesive comprises a photo-curable resin and a heat-curable resin. After mounted on the electric device, the integrated circuit is temporarily adhered to the device by exposing the adhesive to a ultraviolet light in order to cure only the photo-curable component of the adhesive. The operation of the electric device connected to the integrated circuit is then tested. If the integrated circuit is faulty, it is replaced. If faultless, the integrated circuit is permanently fixed to the electric device by heating to completely cure the adhesive.
