Publication number: 20060056439Abstract: A method and apparatus enable high speed transfer of real-time AV data over a bus. When transmitting real-time data of a specific format using isochronous packets, data indicating the transfer rate is added to the isochronous packet. The playback speed can be changed and playback can be stopped while maintaining the transfer rate. High speed data transmission is thus possible.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2003Publication date: March 16, 2006Inventors: Toshiyuki Kohri, Hirofumi Uchida, Hideki Ohtaka, Hiroyuki Katanoshi, Ichirou Okamoto

Patent number: 5444580Abstract: A helical scan type digital recording/reproducing apparatus arranged such that data corresponding to m fields/frames are divisionally recorded in n tracks on a magnetic tape and a slow, still or frame advance reproduction mode is effected in response to an instruction from an external input. The apparatus is equipped with a signal processing circuit coupled to a rotary head for inputting data reproduced from the magnetic tape by the rotary head to store the reproduced data in a memory. In response to the instruction for the slow, still or frame advance reproduction mode, the signal processing circuit outputs a control signal when the data corresponding to one or more frames/fields are stored in the memory. Also included is a servo circuit coupled through a signal line to the signal processing circuit to be responsive to the control signal from the signal processing circuit. The servo circuit controls a capstan motor in accordance with the control signal and the reproduction mode instruction.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1992Date of Patent: August 22, 1995Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Makoto Mitsuda, Hideki Ohtaka, Yoshio Sakakibara, Kazuhiko Kobayashi, Shozo Fujii, Atsushi Hashimoto

Patent number: 5392129Abstract: A signal processing apparatus for use in a digital video signal reproducing apparatus for reproducing digital signal presented in sync blocks is disclosed. Each sync block has a fixed area for low frequency data and five subsequent sync blocks define a sharing group for sharing high frequency data. The signal processing apparatus includes an inner and outer correction circuit for correcting errors in the sync blocks. An error flag is provided to a sync block which still has an error remaining after the processing in the correction circuit. A memory is provided for storing errorless sync blocks of one frame. A substitution switch is provided for passing the errorless sync blocks, but substituting a sync block stored in the memory for a sync block still having some errors. Five sync blocks produced from the substitution switch are held in a delay. When no substitute sync block is detected in the five sync blocks in the delay, the data in the five sync blocks are decoded by a bit rate reduction decoder.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1993Date of Patent: February 21, 1995Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hideki Ohtaka, Tatsuro Juri

Patent number: 5351131Abstract: Disclosed are a video signal recording apparatus for dividing digital video signal into blocks, transforming orthogonally, quantizing, coding in a variable length, and recording always in identical data quantity in a unit of specific number of blocks, and a video signal reproducing apparatus for decoding the recorded signal in variable length, quantizing inversely, transforming inversely and orthogonally, and reproducing the original digital video signal. The coding data in the specific number of blocks in the identical data quantity is divided in two code rows, the individual low frequency components are assigned to separate sync blocks, and high frequency components are also assigned to separate sync blocks, and recorded. When reproducing, if the sync block of high frequency components is wrong, it is possible to decode only with low frequency components, and the screen is reproduced at high fidelity to the reproducing speed at the time of high speed reproducing.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1991Date of Patent: September 27, 1994Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masakazu Nishino, Tatsuro Juri, Hideki Ohtaka

Patent number: 5341250Abstract: In a video signal digital magnetic recording and/or reproducing apparatus, an input image data array is rearranged into a different data array appropriate for data compression and then subjected to a data compression by variable length coding. The resulting data are rearranged after the data compression and then recorded sequentially onto a video track of a magnetic tape in the same order as that in the frame. In a high-speed playback mode, only the lower frequency component data is decoded every sync block, so that the data reproduced from one video track adjoin each other in the playback picture on the screen.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1993Date of Patent: August 23, 1994Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hirofumi Uchida, Tatsuro Juri, Hideki Ohtaka

Patent number: 5278706Abstract: In a digital video signal recording/reproducing apparatus for recording digital VCR video and audio signals by using a rotary cylinder, for a video signal with a frame frequency fN of 30 Hz or 29.97 Hz, the rotating frequency of the cylinder is set to 2.5 times fN. On the other hand, for a signal with a frame frequency fP of 25 Hz, the rotating frequency of the cylinder is set to 3.0 times fP. As a result, as long as the cylinder diameters are identical, the relative speed of the tape and the head is the same for video signals of either frame frequency fN or fP.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1991Date of Patent: January 11, 1994Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Akira Iketani, Chojuro Yamamitsu, Akifumi Ide, Masakazu Nishino, Tatsuro Juri, Hideki Ohtaka, Chiyoko Matsumi

Patent number: 5262853Abstract: In an encoder for selectively receiving, blocking and coding by orthogonal transformation an image A with a screen aspect ratio which is greater than 4:3 or an image B with a screen aspect ratio of 4:3, when the image A is entered, it is divided into a basic screen with an aspect ratio of 4:3 corresponding to a central portion of a screen and an additional screen other than the basic screen. Coding is controlled so that a sum of coded data quantity of a specified number of blocks m of orthogonal transformation of the basic screen and a specified number of blocks n of orthogonal transformation of the additional screen is within a specified data quantity x. When the image B is entered, the coding is controlled so that a coded data quantity of the same number of blocks of orthogonal transformation as the specified number of blocks of orthogonal transformation m of the basic screen of the image A is within the same data quantity as the specified data quantity x.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1992Date of Patent: November 16, 1993Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masakazu Nishino, Tatsuro Juri, Hideki Ohtaka

Patent number: 5193010Abstract: In recording and reproducing the digital video signals by bit rate reduction, if they are copied while being subjected to bit rate reduction, no accumulation of distortions in orthogonal transformation or bit rate reduction occurs, and moreover, copying can be done at a low data rate. On the other hand, in case of dividing the data into blocks in each page and transmitting or recording and reproducing the data by block, by concealing the error by the data having the strongest correlation out of the data located in the pages before and after the block in which error has been detected, no degradation in image quality is induced even when the scene changes between pages. Further, at the same time, by detecting the previous concealment information, if there exists a block which was previously concealed in the block in which error has at present been detected, then the data can be fully reproduced by utilizing it, and degradation in image quality can be reduced to a minimum.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1990Date of Patent: March 9, 1993Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tatsuro Juri, Chiyoko Matsumi, Shinya Kadono, Hideki Ohtaka
