  • Patent number: 8493334
Abstract: An optical input device has a display screen, a portion of the display screen being shielded from light by an operating member to implement input processing based on a plurality of input modes. The input device includes an input detection unit including a display unit that displays predetermined input information, and a control unit. The input detection unit detects an area and/or brightness of a light-shielded portion formed on the display screen by the operating member by approaching the display unit. The control unit provides display control of the display unit and input control on the basis of the detected area and/or brightness. The control unit compares the detected area and/or brightness with a predetermined threshold value to select a desired input mode from among the plurality of input modes.

  • Patent number: 7671493
Abstract: A vibration assembly includes a container, a vibration member containing a hollow portion with a bottom, at least two support members, a magnetic body, a coil having a spool axis, and a diaphragm that is attached to the container. Each of the support members has a flat and corrugated configuration. An end of the one of the support members is bonded to a portion of an edge portion of the hollow portion of the vibration member. The other end of the one of the support members is fixed to a portion of an upper edge of the container. An end of the other support member is bonded to the other portion of the edge portion of the hollow portion of the vibration member. The other end of the other support member is fixed to the other portion of the upper edge of the container.

  • Patent number: 5311497
Abstract: An optical pickup can be inverted accurately and smoothly regardless of the skew operation of the optical pickup. The present invention is directed to a disc player in which a single optical pickup (37) is inverted in an opposing relation to both surfaces of a disc (D) at the same time when it is elevated so that both surfaces of the disc (D) can be reproduced. As an inverting mechanism (79) of the optical pickup (37), an inverting gear (80) is attached to a supporting shaft (53) on which the optical pickup (37) is supported. On the other hand, an inverting rack (81) which is meshed with the inverting gear (80) so as to invert the optical pickup (37) is attached through a supporting frame (82) to a lower chassis (4) which is skewed.

  • Patent number: 4773057
Abstract: An apparatus for reproducing signals recorded on a selected one of first and second discs of different diameters, such as, a relatively large diameter video disc and a relatively small diameter compact disc, has a disc-transporting tray mounted for substantially horizontal movement between a first or operative position within a housing and a second or disc-inserting and withdrawing position in which the tray projects substantially forwardly from the housing through an opening at the front of the latter, the tray having first and second disc mounting portions dimensioned for receiving and holding the relatively large and small diameter discs, respectively, and the second or relatively small-diameter disc mounting portion being disposed at a front part of the tray and substantially contained within the confines of the first or large-diameter disc mounting portion for minimizing the required size of the tray, and hence the overall size of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4764917
Abstract: A front loading disk player comprising a housing provided with a slot into which a disk to be played is inserted, a playback unit installed in said housing and a disk carrier mechanism for carrying said disk to a playback position. The disk carrier mechanism includes a disk loader. The playback unit comprises a carriage for supporting an optical pickup, a driving mechanism for driving the carriage, a turntable and a support member for supporting the carriage, the driving mechanism and the turntable. The support member is secured to the housing through a vibration-damping mechanism. A locking unit is provided for locking the support member to the housing when the disk is not played.
