A user can look at the information displayed on the display portion along with the contents of the information scheduled for the next transmission.

Abstract: The invention comprises modulating means for modulating digital data of fax format into analog signal and transmitting, a fax apparatus connected directly to the modulating means without resort to telephone circuit, DC feed means for feeding direct current to the fax apparatus, and call signal generating means for generating and sending out a call signal to the fax apparatus, in which a call signal is sent out from the call signal generating means, and the output of the modulating means is sent out to the fax apparatus without passing through telephone circuit, so that the fax apparatus connected directly to the modulating means can automatically receive data from the modulating means such as modem. As a result, image data such as bit map data can be easily transmitted directly to the fax apparatus and printed out, and the user can use the fax apparatus easily as a handy printer.

Abstract: A method and system in which television-program table information is transmitted using teletext formats in a coding transmission system. On the reception side, reservation of video recording with an image recording apparatus is effected by making use of the transmitted television-program table information. Reserving a recording time is accomplished using a program recognition device 9 which detects that the television-program table information has been transmitted. Further, a program update recognition device 10, a channel information processing device 11, a date information processing device 12, a time information processing device 13, a program code information processing device 14, and a title information processing device 15 serve to process their respective information in order to display the television program table on a display unit. The recording information written at the initial position of the tape can be displayed on a screen to indicate the contents of the tape.

Abstract: A text broadcast receiver includes a data extraction circuit for extracting a data block in an encoded transmission-format text broadcast signal multiplexed to a vertical blanking period of a video signal, a data group construction circuit for constructing a data group by assembling a plurality of extracted data blocks, a data identifier for passing identifying the data group containing a television program table, a memory for storing the television program table contained in the data group passed through the data identifier, and display control circuit for reading the television program table from the memory and for displaying the television program table on a screen. The text broadcast receiver further includes a remote control selector for selecting at least one television program in the displayed television program table. The selected television program is recorded as a reserved television program for recording.

Abstract: A character and graphics display device for displaying character and graphics data which includes a receiving circuit for deriving the character and graphics data from a signal carrying that data encoded therein, a memory for storing the received data, a decoder circuit for decoding the encoded data into suitable form for transfer to a display device, and a display memory for temporarily storing this decoded data, further includes compression circuits for converting the decoded data into a form whereby patterns represented by that data are displayed in compressed size. Pattern and graphics data can thereby be displayed together with other data such as a television picture, or a number of pages of the character and graphics data can be displayed simultaneously.
