  • Patent number: 8203549
Abstract: A plasma display panel driving method and a plasma display apparatus are disclosed in which a suitable address discharge can be performed at a next scanning timing by reducing voltage changes in a sustain electrode and a scan electrode caused by a change of an address pulse when the address pulse is applied to an address electrode at a scanning timing. The plasma display panel driving method drives a plasma display panel which includes plural scan electrodes extending in a first direction and plural address electrodes extending in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction. In the method, a negative polarity scan pulse is applied to a scan electrode, a positive polarity address pulse is applied to an address electrode from an address electrode driving circuit, and an address discharge is generated.

  • Patent number: 7978153
Abstract: The plasma display device includes connecting means for connecting the X/Y electrodes of the plasma display panel and the X/Y electrode drive circuits. In the X electrode pattern and the Y electrode pattern on the printed board in the connecting means, a current path connecting the center electrodes of the plasma display panel and the X electrode drive circuit or Y electrode drive circuit is longer than a current path connecting the peripheral electrodes and the X electrode drive circuit or Y electrode drive circuit. The current paths at the plasma display panel side are in the U-shape folded in the upper part and the lower part in the periphery of the plasma display panel, respectively. Also, the current paths are first connected to the upper or lower electrodes, and then sequentially connected to the center electrodes via the upper part and the lower part.

  • Patent number: 7598929
Abstract: A PDP apparatus in which a large-sized plasma display panel, whose electrodes have large drive requirements, is driven by using already existing driver ICs, and a PDP apparatus in which the operating conditions when a plasma display panel is driven by using a plurality of driver ICs have been improved, are disclosed. According to a first aspect, one electrode of the plasma display panel is driven by combining a plurality of drive signals output from the driver IC and, according to a second aspect, in a configuration in which a plurality of electrodes are driven by a plurality of identical driver ICs, when some of a plurality of outputs of the driver ICs are not connected to the electrodes and not used, the unused outputs are distributed in each driver IC as evenly as possible.

  • Patent number: 7224329
Abstract: A PDP apparatus of low power consumption and without erroneous malfunctions is equipped with a sustaining circuit that prevents an on/off timing shift and deterioration of a sustaining pulse produced thereby. Phase adjusting circuits, which adjust the timing of the changing edge of the sustaining pulse, are provided for the sustaining circuit; the power recovery circuit is of improved efficiency; and power consumption is reduced by optimizing the timing of a changing edge of the sustaining pulse The circuit devices used in the sustaining circuits are classified according to delay times and sets of the circuit devices are selected so that the timing of a changing edge of the sustaining pulse falls within a predetermined allowance, and the selected sets of the circuit devices are set to the PDP.
