  • Patent number: 11387496
Abstract: An alkaline battery is made by press-fitting a plurality of tubular positive electrode pellets inside of an open end of a cylindrical positive electrode can. The press-fitting is performed in such a manner as to stack the positive electrode pellets coaxially inside of and in contact with the positive electrode can, with gaps between adjacent positive electrode pellets. A separator is disposed inside of the tubular pellets, and a negative electrode mixture is placed inside of the separator. A negative electrode current collector is inserted into the negative electrode mixture, and the opening at the open end of the positive electrode can is sealed with a negative electrode terminal plate.

  • Publication number: 20180013174
Abstract: An alkaline battery has a positive electrode mixture containing manganese dioxide and a conductive material filling a tubular positive electrode can that is closed at one end. A negative electrode mixture containing a zinc powder filling on an inner peripheral side of a separator is disposed on an inside of the positive electrode mixture. The negative electrode mixture contains zinc particles with a granularity of 75 ?m or less at 25 to 40 mass %. The positive electrode mixture has a plurality of tubular pellets stacked inside the positive electrode can coaxially with the positive electrode can. A sum s of lengths of gaps between the pellets is set at 1 to 14% with respect to a sum d of lengths of the pellets. Thus, a sufficient amount of the electrolyte is held in the gaps and between the pellets in the positive electrode.

  • Patent number: 8673485
Abstract: A cylindrical battery gasket that will not functionally deteriorate in absorbing stress caused by the gasket extending radially upon the battery being sealed is provided with a boss part with a central hole through which a negative electrode collector is inserted, a canister contact part that is affixed in place and in contact with a cathode canister, a disk-shaped part that is provided to connect the boss part to the canister contact part, and a stress buffering part that is provided on the way to the disk-shaped pat. The stress buffering part has a first bent part and a second bent part, both of an acute angle, and is set nearer the center of the cathode canister than to the positive electrode mixture, upon the gasket being installed in the cathode canister.

  • Patent number: 5376480
Abstract: A gel form negative electrode of an alkaline battery is produced without mercury and enables uniform dispersion of zinc or zinc alloy powder and an effective metal which can be one or more of an oxide or hydroxide of indium, lead, gallium, bismuth. The zinc or zinc alloy powder and the effective metal are drymixed in advance of mixing with a gel form alkaline electrolyte. In order to obtain satisfactorily high vibration strength and impact resistance, fiber material can be added to the gel form negative electrode. The fiber material may be selected among rayon, vinylon, acryl, vinyon, polyamide, polypropylene, polyethylene, mercerized pulp, linter pulp.

  • Patent number: 5348816
Abstract: A method for producing a gel form negative electrode of an alkaline battery while avoiding use of mercury enables uniform dispersion of zinc or zinc alloy powder and an effective metal which can be one or more of an oxide or hydroxide of indium, lead, gallium, bismuth, by stirring for a substantially reduced period. The method employs dry mixing of the zinc or zinc alloy powder and the effective metal in advance of mixing with a gel form alkaline electrolyte. Also, in order to obtain satisfactorily high vibration strength and impact resistance, fiber material can be added to the gel form negative electrode. The fiber material may be selected among rayon, vinylon, acryl, vinyon, polyamide, polypropylene, polyethylene, mercerized pulp, linter pulp.
