  • Publication number: 20090204857
Abstract: In a network apparatus for receiving a processing request transmitted from an external apparatus connected thereto via a network, it is detected that processing corresponding to the transmitted processing request has not been performed. If it is detected that the processing corresponding to the transmitted processing request has not been performed, a port number of a request destination of the transmitted processing request is recognized and an application corresponding to the recognized port number is specified as an application of a request destination of the transmitted processing request. Furthermore, it is determined whether the specified application is in an ON or OFF state. If it is detected that the processing corresponding to the transmitted processing request has not been performed and the specified application is in the OFF state, error information including information indicating the specified application is output.

  • Publication number: 20080218806
Abstract: An image processing apparatus which makes it possible to change the manner of authentication between cases where restriction of a specific process is performed on an image of an original, as an original document, and where the restriction of the specific process is performed on an image of an original, as a copy of the original document. A scanner reads an image on an original. An embedded information-extracting section extracts specific information contained in the read image. A determining section determines based on the extracted information whether or not the original is an original document. An authenticating section performs authentication using respective difference pieces of authentication information in cases where the original is determined to be an original document and where the original is not. A copy operation control section restricts the specific process based on the image, according to a result of the authentication.

  • Publication number: 20080152188
Abstract: An image processing apparatus stores moving image data including a plurality of frames and enables a user to select at least one frame from the plurality of frames included in the moving image data and select a type of processing that is to be performed to the selected frame. The apparatus executes control to perform the selected type of processing to the selected frame. Further, the apparatus manages history information indicating the frame to which the processing is performed and the type of the performed processing.

  • Patent number: 7240118
Abstract: When access is attempted by a device equipped with Web client capabilities, a device connected to a network and equipped with Web server capabilities judges whether to restrict the access. If it is judged that the access should be restricted, information about the reason for the access restriction is sent regardless of the information possessed by the device equipped with Web client capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20060031711
Abstract: To enable the host server side to be aware of the recovery of an error when the error is recovered by the user's power off/on operation, the most recent state regarding occurrences of errors at printer 16 (steps S61 and S62) is stored in the backup RAM 12a each time a status change occurs (steps S63 and S64), and when an user performs a power off/on operation and a printing device is re-activated (step S65), if a most recent state at the time of the previous activation was in a state of service call error occurrence (step S66), the current status of the printer 16 is then sent (steps S68 and S69).

  • Publication number: 20060031186
Abstract: An information processing method which can reduce stress on the user by always providing services to the user without any delay. The information processing method is executed by an information processing apparatus. A search server is requested to perform a search for at least one of servers for performing desired data processing, and a result of the search showing a first server is received from the search server. The search server is requested to perform a search for at least one of the servers for performing the desired data processing, and a result of the search showing a second server which is different from the first server is received from the search server, when the first server cannot accept a request for performing the desired data processing from the information processing apparatus. The second server is registered in a storage as a substitute server for the first server.

  • Publication number: 20060007480
Abstract: It is an object that when specific application data is print-outputted, the user is not notified of a plurality of output end notifications of the number corresponding to the number of output copies but is efficiently notified that all jobs have been finished. When a plurality of same print jobs from the same transmitting source identifier are received, an output end notification of the print job other than the last-received print job among the plurality of same print jobs is not displayed to a display unit of a computer but an output end notification corresponding to the last-received print job is displayed to the display unit of the computer.
