  • Patent number: 7846855
Abstract: A nonwoven fabric containing a polyvinyl butyral fiber is provided. In particular, continuous fiber nonwoven fabrics, such as a melt-blown nonwoven fabric and a spunbonded nonwoven fabric, are preferred. By laminating a plurality of layers via an adhering layer made of such a nonwoven fabric and then heating, a laminate is obtained by a simple process. In particular, an interior material in which an inorganic fiber layer, a foam layer and a surface material layer are adhered together via the aforementioned type of adhering layers is a desirable embodiment. Such an interior material is excellent in rigidity, sound absorbency and thermal deformation resistance, and therefore is useful as an interior material to be used for cars, railway vehicles, vessels, and the like.

  • Publication number: 20050158440
Abstract: This invention relates to a technology for modifying gum arabic to increase its emulsifying ability, and provides a method which does not give rise to such troubles as the gum arabic agglomerating to form syrupy masses, sticking to the vessel, dehydration, or charring in the course of processing. A modified gum arabic within an increased emulsifying ability can be obtained by heating a roughly crushed or broken solid of gum arabic at a temperature not below 40° C. in an atmosphere having a relative humidity of 30-100%. The modified gum arabic can be used with advantage as an emulsifier for beverages, confectionery inclusive of chewing gums, oily flavorings, oily colors, and fat-soluble vitamins, among others.

  • Patent number: 5702572
Abstract: The improved method of treating an exhaust gas from a combustion apparatus comprises adding ammonia to the exhaust gas and then irradiating it with an electron beam, characterized in that part or all of said ammonia is supplied as a separated portion of ammonia-containing water. The ammonia-containing foul water may contain feces excreted from humans and/or domestic animals and poultry, fermentation industry liquid waste or food processing wastewater. The organic waste-containing water may be digested anaerobically to convert the organic matter to methane gas and, subsequently, ammonia is separated from the supernatant liquor and used as the source of ammonia to be supplied. The methane gas is suitably used as a source of energy for the combustion apparatus. At least part of the organic matter in the organic foul water may be decomposed oxidatively and, subsequently, ammonia is separated for use as the source of ammonia to be supplied.

  • Patent number: 5547643
Abstract: In the improved apparatus for treating flue gases by irradiation with electron beams, ammonia is added at a position in the direction of the flue gas stream that is upstream of the center of electron beams applied within the reactor and which is not more than 2.5 times the range of electron beams, preferably not more than 2.0 times, more preferably not more than 1.5 times, most preferably from 0.5 to 1.0 times said range. Ammonia is supplied in any one of the following ways; (1) only ammonia is supplied; (2) both ammonia and air are supplied; (3) both ammonia and water are supplied; and (4) ammonia, air and water are all supplied. From an operational viewpoint, ammonia is preferably supplied as diluted in the form of a mixture of heated ammonia and dry air (having preferably a dew point of -15.degree. C. or less at one atmosphere). It is also effective to supply ammonia through pipes that are arranged to contour the spherical divergence of electron beams.

  • Patent number: 5433045
Abstract: A device to control vertical vibration of a building caused by seismic disturbance. Air springs are positioned and secured between the building foundation and the building superstructure to attenuate vertical vibration of the building. Vertical support rails are secured to the foundation and/or to the building superstructure on opposite sides of, and adjacent to, the air springs. Horizontal connecting brackets are rigidly secured to the air springs and slidably secured to the adjacent rails. The brackets restrain horizontal deflection of the air springs without interfering with vertical reciprocation of the air springs.

  • Patent number: 5261108
Abstract: In a multiprocessor system, a communication register is partitioned into groups of word storage locations and one of the groups is further partitioned into subgroups associated respectively with the processors. An access controller accesses any groups of the communication register when a system program is being processed and accesses one of the subgroup when a user program is being processed. A write controller is responsive to a test & set instruction of first occurrence from a common bus for assembling a lock work with a data word, a control field and a counter field containing a variable count. The control field of the lock word is set to a first binary state when it is assembled and reset to a second binary state when deassembled. In response to a load instruction from the common bus, either the data word from the bus or lock word is stored into a specified storage area of a communication register.
