  • Patent number: 5486728
Abstract: A micromotor comprises a cylindrical rotor casing having a central through-hole, and a rotor having a cylindrical, magnetic rotor block fixed on a rotor shaft and inserted in the central through-hole of the rotor casing. First and second bearings support the rotor shaft for rotation and are fitted, respectively, in opposite ends of the central through-hole of the rotor casing and define a sealed rotor chamber therebetween. Stator coils are attached to the outer rotor circumference of the rotor casing, and a stator casing is joined to the rotor casing coaxially with the rotor so as to cover that stator coils. A magnetic fluid is filled in the sealed rotor chamber between the first and second bearings between which is disposed the magnetic rotor block. A series of Peltier elements are attached to the outer circumference of the stator casing and electrically connected to a power supply to absorb heat generated by the operation of the components of the micromotor.

  • Patent number: 4895489
Abstract: An axial flow fan has a casing having an air flow passage therein which terminates at one end in an air inlet port and at the other end in an air outlet port. A hub carrying fan blades is rotatably disposed within the casing and rotationally driven by a motor contained interiorly of the hub. A set of stays support the motor and hub on the casing. Projections are provided on the casing and/or hub in the region of the outlet port to effectively divide air swirls which tend to form at the outlet port into smaller size swirls thereby reducing energy losses and improving efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4111311
Abstract: A material handling unit for moving material from one position to another comprises a gripper arm on a shaft which is movable critically by fluid pressure and is rotatable by a rack and pinion mechanism actuated by a cylinder and piston. Adjustable abutments are provided for limiting the range of movement of the arm. Dashpot means for applying a damping force to the manipulator so as to decelerate it before it reaches the limit of its movement is adjustable both as to the range of action and the rate of deceleration.

  • Patent number: 4098644
Abstract: A nuclear fuel element comprises an elongated tube having upper and lower end plugs fixed to both ends thereof and nuclear fuel pellets contained within the tube. The fuel pellets are held against the lower end plug by a spring which is supported by a setting structure. The setting structure is maintained at a proper position at the middle of the tube by a wedge effect caused by spring force exerted by the spring against a set of balls coacting with a tapered member of the setting structure thereby wedging the balls against the inner wall of the tube and the setting structure is moved free by pushing with a push bar against the spring force so as to release the wedge effect.
