  • Patent number: 7580544
Abstract: An addressee recognizing apparatus recognizes the addressee of matter to be delivered. A database stores a description format including at least a described position, the number of character lines, and the length of each character line in a sender area on the matter to be delivered. When a scanner obtains an image, a plurality of addressee candidate areas are obtained from the image. The apparatus determines whether the description format for each of the extracted candidates matches the description format for the sender area stored in the database. If the description format for the candidate is determined to match the description format for the sender area, the candidate is prohibited from being recognized as the addressee area.

  • Publication number: 20060291692
Abstract: A search processing section searches information stored in an address database, using a first character series, e.g., a postal code input through an input device as a search key, for a second character series corresponding to an address. A character recognition processing section performs character recognition with respect to a predetermined area in the image, using a character dictionary, and generates candidates for a character series including a name or designation, a postal code, an address, etc. A character image selection processing section selects a character series corresponding to the searched second character series from the generated candidates. A character image storage section stores correlation between each of the characters constituting the selected character series and a character image thereof.

  • Publication number: 20050010540
Abstract: An international mail determination unit determines whether or not the postal matter of interest is foreign mail, on the basis of the collation results of the seal description information collation unit, address format collation unit, address word collation unit, delivery area code format collation unit, and country name identification word collation unit (or some of these units). When the international mail determination unit determines that the postal matter of interest is foreign mail, the country name determination unit determines a country as a destination of that postal matter on the basis of the collation results of the above five collation units (or some of these units).

  • Patent number: 6035059
Abstract: An image processing system capable of facilitating the highly accurate character recognition on the colored input images. In this system, an input image data to be processed is entered, and a color separation of the input image data is determined according to geometrical data for each image portion of the input image data, and color data for each image portion and a background of the input image data. Then, the input image data is appropriately processed according to the determined color separation. Also, in this system, at least one of color image data and gray scale image data according to the input image data are stored along with and binary image data according to the input image data, and the binary image data are processed by looking up the at least one of the color image data and the gray scale image data.

  • Patent number: 5896464
Abstract: In the ruled line elimination apparatus of the present invention, the ruled line contacting a character or overlapping to the character is completely eliminated. First, a ruled line determination section determines existence area of the ruled line in the input image. Second, a ruled line elimination section determines continuous pixels consisting of the ruled line in the existence area, and eliminates the continuous pixels by unit of predetermined width, in which a direction of the predetermined width is perpendiculer to a directed of the ruled line.

  • Patent number: 4413275
Abstract: An ink-jet color printing apparatus is comprised of a rotary drum that bears the paper or other medium to receive the color printing and rotates in a primary scanning direction. A group of yellow ink-jet heads, a group of magenta ink-jet heads, a group of cyan ink-jet heads and a group of black ink-jet heads are provided, with each group of ink-jet heads arranged in the secondary scanning direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the drum. These ink-jet heads form simultaneously dot lines of four different colors. Groups of ink-jet heads of respective color are comprised of a plurality of ink-jet heads arranged in the primary scanning direction so as to form a plurality of dot lines constituting a single scanning line. A single picture element is formed by a dot matrix having n.times.m possible positions on a plurality of dot lines. Intermediate colors and color densities thereof can be achieved by combinations of several kinds of colored inks and dot patterns formed on a single matrix.

  • Patent number: 4412225
Abstract: A method for representing a complex color by providing a mean-value a color mixture of low and middle color density so as to deposit at least two kinds of different color ink drops on a dot matrix in such a way as to permit a single ink drop to be in each of the greater part of the cells of the dot matrix. But a subtractive color mixture is used at high color density so as to deposit at least two kinds of different color ink drops on a dot matrix in such a way as to permit at least two kinds of ink drops to be superimposed in each of the greater part of the cells of the dot matrix. With a dot matrix of rectangular configuration of columns and rows of cells, each color is applied starting from a different corner of the matrix and progressing toward the diagonally opposite corner as the required level of color density progressively rises.

  • Patent number: 4090211
Abstract: A camera which permits film units to be initially stored as a plurality of first sheets and an equal number of second sheets. In taking a photograph, a first sheet is exposed and then transferred into correctly aligned contact with a corresponding second sheet, which may constitute a subsequently sealable folder or envelope for containment of the first sheet, or a cover which is bondable to the first sheet. This transfer of a first sheet is effected entirely independently in the camera, or by a camera mechanism acting on a draw mechanism attached firmly but not fixedly to the first sheet, in this latter case the draw mechanism being detached from the first sheet immediately subsequent to transfer thereof into association with the second sheet.
