  • Patent number: 4975486
Abstract: This invention relates to a rubber-reinforced polystyrene composition having a rubbery polymer dispersed in the form of particles therein, characterized in that:(A) the particles have an area-averaged particle diameter in the range of 0.20 to 1.00 micron,(B) the dispersed particles of rubbery substance have polystyrene included in the form of minute particles therein and not less than 80% of the total number of the polystyrene particles have diameters of not more than 0.3 micron, and(C) the composition contains polydimethyl siloxane in an amount falling in the range of 0.005 to 0.8% by weight. The resin composition of this invention is superior in appearance such as coloring and gloss and has balanced properties of impact resistance and rigidity. Excellent coloring represents a profound commercial significance in that the cost of dye and pigment to be used for the coloring can be appreciably saved.

  • Patent number: 4940753
Abstract: A polyphenylene ether resin composition comprising a polyphenylene ether resin and a rubber-reinforced styrenic resin, said composition containing rubber particles dispersed therein, which particles having a distribution of sizes such that there are at least one maximal value at 1.5.mu. or less and at least one maximal value at 2 to 3.mu. in volume fraction of the sizes, with the ratio of the former maximal value to the latter maximal value being within the range of from 1/4 to 4/1, and substantially no rubber particles having a size of 3.mu. or larger exist. The composition can be used widely for uses such as industrial parts, electrical parts, office instrument housing, automobile parts, precision parts, etc.

  • Patent number: 4543392
Abstract: A polymeric material which is superior in mechanical strength, dimensional stability, moldability and resistances to chemicals, heat and abrasion comprises a copolymer composed of polymer chain moieties of a copolymer containing an imide compound of an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and polymer chain moieties of a polyamide, both chain moieties being bonded to each other. The material may be blended with thermoplastic resins. Furthermore, the material may be reinforced with glass fiber, etc.

  • Patent number: 4444934
Abstract: A heat resistant thermoplastic resin composition improved in working fluidity while keeping the characteristics of aromatic polyether resins such as heat resistance and solvent cracking resistance. This composition comprises 100 parts by weight of an aromatic polyether resin or a mixed resin of an aromatic polyether resin and a styrene resin and 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of a polyhydric alcohol fatty acid ester having at least one --OH group. This ester preferably has a molecular weight of at least 200.
