  • Patent number: 6188871
Abstract: A regional common-use block for a CATV system, which can be flexibly managed with increased convenience according to regional requirements, and which does not require a large-scale installation at each subscriber location, thereby lowering cost to each subscriber. Additionally, a CATV system using a plurality of the regional common-use blocks wherein a regional common-use block is interposed between a CATV center and each subscriber instrument and includes a set-top-converter (STC) which is commonly held by a specified unit number of subscribers in a local area, and wherein switching control is conducted to transmit an output of a STC to a plurality of subscribers. The common-use block separates multiplexed signals from the CATV center, converts the separated signals by each STC, controls circuit switching means, modulates the signals by RF modulating means and subsequently transmits the requested programs to subscribers.

  • Patent number: 5714850
Abstract: The invention provides an insertion device for use with synchrotron radiation, including a horizontal undulator including a plurality of magnets linearly arranged along an axis of electron beams so that alternately positioned magnets have common polarity, and a vertical undulator including a plurality of magnets linearly arranged along an axis of electron beams so that alternately positioned magnets have common polarity. The horizontal and vertical undulators are perpendicularly centered about axes thereof, and arranged to be axially offset so that magnetic fields produced by the horizontal and vertical undulators are perpendicular to each other and a magnetic field produced by one of the horizontal and vertical undulators is inverted for each period of a magnetic field produced by the other. The insertion device is positioned in a straight section between bending magnets of a circular accelerator. In operation, the insertion device causes electrons beams to rotate alternately in opposite directions in a FIG.

  • Patent number: 5136956
Abstract: A seam forming device is provided for a blindstitching machine for starting a seam at the fabric end. This device has a fabric feeding apparatus positioned direct in front of a feed dog, so as to enable it to form seams which begin at the fabric end at which sewing is initiated. This eliminates the unseamed portion at the fabric end at which sewing is initiated, which has previously been inevitable when sewing with a conventional blindstitching machine. Thus, with the present invention, it is no longer necessary to manually finish the seam after blindstitching.

  • Patent number: 4943011
Abstract: A vehicle seat belt retractor with a tension-reducing mechanism comprises a main winding spring biasing a toothed wheel in the belt-winding direction and an auxiliary winding spring biasing the reel shaft relative to the wheel. The positions of a stopper pawl biased by an over-center spring are controlled by a clutch plate associated with the wheel such that the wheel is stopped by engagement by the pawl after the belt is pulled out and done up, the slack is allowed to be taken up, and the user pulls the belt out slightly, thereby establishing the reduced-tension state. The pawl is released from the wheel to restore the winding bias of the main spring by a releasing clutch ring if more than slightly less than one revolution of the reel is required to take up slack in the belt after the reduced-tension state is attained.
