Patent number: 7311232Abstract: A motorcycle saddlebag mounting device having a restricting means for staggering timings of yawing occurring in a motorcycle body and resonance caused by lateral swing of a saddlebag is provided. The restricting means is provided between a support bracket mounted to a seat rail and a saddlebag mounting frame rotatably mounted to the support bracket. Rotation of the frame with respect to the support bracket is restricted, so that resonance caused by yawing of the motorcycle body and lateral swing of the saddlebag is cancelled out.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2004Date of Patent: December 25, 2007Assignees: Honda Access Co., Ltd., Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kazuyoshi Watanabe, Hideo Ochiai, Katsumasa Mukai

Patent number: 7055843Abstract: In a vehicle body-protecting device for a two-wheeled motor vehicle, in which a pair of left and right guard members are mounted to a vehicle body frame assembly to overhang laterally outwards, so that when the two-wheeled motor vehicle is turned sideways, said guard members are allowed to be grounded, whereby the grounding of an outer surface of a vehicle body is diminished, each of the guard members is formed by connecting a ground element which is grounded upon the turning-sideways of the two-wheeled motor vehicle to a mounting base secured to the vehicle body frame assembly through an elastic element for swinging movement. Thus, it is possible to eliminate the need for the special strengthening of the vehicle body frame assembly in such a manner that a shock due to the turning-sideways of the two-wheeled motor vehicle can be received on the vehicle body frame assembly, while being buffered.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2002Date of Patent: June 6, 2006Assignee: Honda Access CorporationInventors: Makoto Kan, Hideo Ochiai, Yoshinori Mifune

Patent number: 7007289Abstract: A CD changer mounted on a vehicle is supported in a floating manner to sufficiently damp vibrations and prevent a CD from skipping. Mounting plates and a pair of inner support plates are connected to each other at two front and two rear points by a first set of dampers, which buffer displacement of the mounting plates within a vertical plane relative to the inner support plates. The inner support plates and a pair of outer support plates opposite the inner support plates and supported on the base plates are connected to each other at two front and two rear points by a second set of dampers, which buffer displacement of the inner support plates within a vertical plane relative to the outer support plates. Suspended springs mounted between the mounting plate and the outer support plate exert a spring force to counteract the weight of the CD changer.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2003Date of Patent: February 28, 2006Assignees: Honda Access Corporation, Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hideo Ochiai, Takayuki Shimazaki, Osamu Sato

Patent number: 6883850Abstract: In a structure of accommodating a CD changer, in which the CD changer biased for turning toward a protruding position is covered with a lid plate closing an open end of an accommodating recess in a state in which the CD changer is in an accommodated position, an engagement portion is provided on the lid plate mounted to a support frame so that it can be slid between a disengaged position and an engaged position. A locking portion is provided on each of base plates so that the locking portion engages with the engagement portion in a state in which the lid plate is at the engaged position, and the engagement with the engagement portion is released in response to the sliding of the lid plate toward the disengaged position. A locking mechanism capable of locking the lid plate in the engaged position and releasing the locked state by a manual operation is provided between the lid plate and the support frame. Thus, it is possible to ensure that the CD changer cannot be turned undesirably to the protruding position.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2003Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Honda Access CorporationInventors: Kenichiro Enomoto, Takayuki Shimazaki, Hideo Ochiai

Publication number: 20040251657Abstract: In a vehicle body-protecting device for a two-wheeled motor vehicle, in which a pair of left and right guard members (G) are mounted to a vehicle body frame assembly (F) to overhang laterally outwards, so that when the two-wheeled motor vehicle (M) is turned sideways, said guard members (G) are allowed to be grounded, whereby the grounding of an outer surface of a vehicle body is diminished, each of the guard members (G) is formed by connecting a ground element (24) which is grounded upon the turning-sideways of the two-wheeled motor vehicle (M) to a mounting base (20) secured to the vehicle body frame assembly (F) through an elastic element (23) for swinging movement. Thus, it is possible to eliminate the need for the special strengthening of the vehicle body frame assembly in such a manner that a shock due to the turning-sideways of the two-wheeled motor vehicle can be received on the vehicle body frame assembly, while being buffered.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 28, 2004Publication date: December 16, 2004Inventors: Makoto Kan, Hideo Ochiai, Yoshinori Mifune

Patent number: 4519473Abstract: A motorcycle having a liquid-cooled engine with a liquid cooling system. The system includes a radiator, a water jacket about the engine and connecting feed and return lines. The radiator is located in the forward part of the motorcycle while the engine is located in the rear. The cooling lines pass beneath a step floor located intermediate a front leg shield and the rear body of the vehicle. A thermostat is positioned to selectively control flow through the return line while a water pump pumps flow to the engine. A bypass line extends from the uppermost portion of the cooling jacket at the engine to the radiator for extraction of air from the system. A pressure controlled radiator cap provides selective communication with a reserve tank.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1983Date of Patent: May 28, 1985Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hideo Ochiai, Masumi Hamane, Masahiko Kimoto
