  • Patent number: 5732540
Abstract: A mower including a plurality of cutter blades is disclosed. The mower includes a housing accommodating the cutter blades. The housing includes a first a first side face defining a discharge opening for discharging grass clippings, a side panel formed at a second side face disposed on the opposite side to the first side face relative to a longitudinal center line of a vehicle body, and a front panel having a first front panel disposed on the side of said discharge opening, and a second front panel including a flat extension portion extending on the opposite side to the discharge opening. The flat extension portion extends substantially to a virtual line extending from an outer side end of a locus of revolution of the blade disposed adjacent the second side face in parallel with a traveling direction of the vehicle body.

  • Patent number: 5481857
Abstract: A mower unit includes a plurality of blade mechanisms each having a blade and a blade shaft fixed to the blade for supporting the blade, pulleys and a belt for transmitting drive among the blade mechanisms, a plate-like support frame for interconnecting the blade mechanisms through intermediate members, a mower deck, and vibration proofing rubber elements disposed between the mower deck and the blade mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 5457947
Abstract: A mower unit includes a housing having a skirt portion extending toward the ground, and a covering wall surrounding a plurality of grass cutting blades to define spaces for mulching treatment. The covering wall includes peripheral wall members each curved along a locus of revolution of the blade and spaced from the skirt portion. The peripheral wall member includes a vertical portion descending toward the ground. The vertical portion and the skirt portion have lower ends thereof substantially at the same height over the ground. The blades are arranged transversely of the mower unit. The peripheral wall members are in the form of independent annular wall members provided for the blades, respectively. The annular wall members define spaces for mulching treatment substantially independent of one another.

  • Patent number: 5155985
Abstract: A lawn mower controllable by a walking operator and having two control levers each for controlling a brake and a propelling clutch. Each control lever is pivotable to a "run" position to engage the clutch and render the brake inoperative, a "neutral" position to disengage the clutch and render the brake inoperative, and a "stop" position to disengage the clutch and operate the brake. Each control lever is constantly urged to the "stop" position by a spring. The lawn mower further includes a locking lever for maintaining the control levers in the respective "neutral" positions and "stop" positions. The lawn mower is driven by an engine to engage in a grass cutting operation with the control levers maintained in the "run" positions by the urging springs. The operator may push the mower to engage in a grass cutting operation with the control levers maintained in the "neutral" positions by the locking lever.

  • Patent number: 5020310
Abstract: A lawn mower comprising a vehicle body including a first connecting frame in a forward portion thereof, and a vertically adjustable grass cutting unit including a second connecting frame for pin connection to the first connecting frame. The first connecting frame defines two pin-receiving bores arranged horizontally, one of which is a circular fitting bore and the other a slot providing play. The second connecting frame defines three pairs of pin-receiving bores, the respective pairs being disposed at different heights from the ground. The slot in the first connecting frame has a sufficient length to be connected to one of the top or bottom bores of the second frame while the circular bore is connected to the diagonally opposite bore of the second frame.

  • Patent number: 5002519
Abstract: A dual tension clutch comprising a drive pulley, a driven pulley, and a transmission belt wound around the drive and driven pulleys. Opposite runs of the transmission belt are pressed inwardly by two spring-loaded tension pulleys supported by tension arms pivoted to each other. A triangular frame, as guided by a fixed pin, acts on the tension arms to spread the tension pulleys apart to relax the transmission belt. In the declutching state so established, the tension pulleys are opposed across and equidistant to a line extending through centers of the drive and driven pulleys.
