Patent number: 5526572Abstract: A cutting head for a cord-type mower driven by an engine is disclosed. The cutting head includes a rotor capable of rotating about an axis and a bobbin with a cord wound on it. The bobbin can rotate relatively to the rotor about the axis in the rotor. The cutting head includes two types of cord feeding systems. The first cord feeding system automatically feeds a cord in response to cord wear. The second cord feeding system feeds a cord in response to a manual tapping operation executed during driving of the cutting head. The second cord feeding system disconnects one of the bobbin and rotor from the engine in response to the tapping operation.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1994Date of Patent: June 18, 1996Assignee: Diatop CorporationInventors: Hideo Sugihara, Hajime Tomita

Patent number: 5025561Abstract: A guide bar for chain saw comprises a main body of a plate shape. The main body has first and second sides facing each other in the thickness direction of the main body. The main body includes at least a first recess provided on the first side, and a second recess provided on the second side of the main body. The first recess has a first portion communicated with the second recess so that the recesses define in combination a through hole at the communciating portion, and a second portion shielded by the second side of the main body. A filler is packed in said first and second recesses.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1990Date of Patent: June 25, 1991Assignee: Sugihara Trading Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hideo Sugihara, Kazuhito Sugihara

Patent number: 4819332Abstract: An oil supply structure of a chain saw comprises a pair of rail portions which are provided on the outer circumference of the main body of a guide plate, a guide groove which is formed between the two rail portions, a pair of oil supply holes which penetrate the two rail portions from outside and which open toward the guide groove, a through hole which penetrates the main body of the guide plate without any connection with the guide groove, and a pair of connection channels which connect outer end openings of each oil supply hole and two outer end openings of the through hole. Lubricating oil is supplied from an outlet port of the main body of the chain saw to both sides of a saw chain and so forth through the through hole, connection channel and oil supply hole.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1987Date of Patent: April 11, 1989Assignee: Sugihara Rinki Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hideo Sugihara, Mitsukazu Takisita, Daijo Hirose

Patent number: 4321750Abstract: A chain saw guide blade includes a pair of side plates between which an axle is fixedly supported and a sprocket is rotatably supported with respect to the axle. The sprocket is rotatable about the axle with roller bearings therebetween for guiding a cutter chain for movement around the edge of the guide blade. A pair of annular seals are respectively disposed between the sprocket and one of the side plates and between the sprocket and the other side plate. Each of the seals includes an annular lip projecting obliquely into resilient contact with a surface of the sprocket or of one of the side plates. A grease-supply aperture in each side plate is normally closed off by a flap on the annular seal or resilient valve placed in a central hole of the axle. When under the pressure of forced grease through the aperture, the flap or valve is resiliently yieldable to allow the grease to be introduced for the lubrication of the roller bearings.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1980Date of Patent: March 30, 1982Assignee: Sugihara Rinki Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hideo Sugihara
