    Abstract: According to the invention, a deodorant which comprises at least one of germanium, antimony and bismuth compounds is used for a permanent waving agent consisting mainly of a mercapto compound. The deodorant is utilized by being contained in the permanent waving agent, or applied as a pretreatment agent before the permanent waving operation is carried out.By use of the above-mentioned deodorant, the production of hydrogen sulfide of "unpleasant odor" can be restrained.
