  • Patent number: 8270716
Abstract: Image processing is done by separating image data into foreground image data, background image data, and mask image data. The foreground image data is divided into a plurality of square blocks composed of a plurality of pixels. The difference between maximum pixel values and minimum pixel values in each square block is compared to a threshold value. If the difference is below the threshold, the pixel value data in the square block is averaged. If the difference is above the threshold, the plurality of square blocks may be subdivided into smaller square blocks and the difference calculated again. If the difference is below the threshold, the pixel value data in the smaller square block is averaged. If the difference is above the threshold, the smaller square block is not averaged. Each of the foreground image data, background image data and mask image data are then individually compressed and merged.

  • Patent number: 8154577
Abstract: An apparatus and a method of controlling a light level of a light beam irradiated by a light source are provided. The light source is caused to irradiate the light beam having a light level determined based on a light level correction value for a specific main scanning position. The light level correction value is calculated based on light level change information indicating the change in the light level correction value for the specific main scanning position changes with respect to an initial light level correction value or a preceding light level correction value.

  • Publication number: 20080037073
Abstract: In an image processor, a Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) decoder decodes JPEG-compressed image data and stores the image data in a first Static Random Access Memory (SRAM). A Modified Modified Read (MMR) decoder decodes MMR-compressed separation data and stores the separation data in a second SRAM. A multivaluing unit performs multivalue processing on the separation data such that the total length of the separation data and the image data are 32 bits for each pixel. An image synthesizer synthesizes the separation data and the image data multivalued for each pixel into data with a length of 32 bits.
