    Abstract: In a battery pack, it is difficult that information on a contained battery of the battery pack, such as the accurate state of charge of the battery, is detected at an external equipment. A communication terminal which can communicate the state of charge of the contained battery to the external equipment is provided on the installation surface on which power supply terminals of the battery pack are provided or on the surface adjacent to the installation surface. This allows the corresponding electrodes or the like of the external equipment to be concentrated at one place, so that the space required to arrange the corresponding electrodes or the like is reduced, thus downsizing the equipment.

    Abstract: A battery pack housing four tubular cells in juxtaposition to each other in vertical and transverse directions. The battery pack has a cell housing unit, a plurality of cells housed within said cell housing unit, first and second grooves formed on both lateral surfaces of the cell housing unit extending parallel to the direction of insertion of the housing unit into an electronic device, at a mid height along the height of the cell housing unit, and a third groove formed at a mid position along the width of the housing unit extending from the forward end face as far as a mid portion of the housing unit. The first and second grooves are opened in a forward end face of the housing unit in the direction of insertion. The battery device also has a hole formed in a portion of the forward end face of the housing unit not faced by the end faces of the cells housed within the housing unit. An electronic device in which the battery device is loaded has a battery loading section dimensioned to hold the battery device.

    Abstract: A battery pack having rechargeable secondary batteries housed in a battery casing. The battery pack includes hollow tubular-shaped anodic and cathodic terminals in a right upper void and in a left upper void, respectively, of the battery casing. The voids are produced by housing the cylindrical first and second secondary batteries in the battery casing. An anodic terminal connecting pin and a cathodic terminal connecting pin are provided on an external equipment for fitting in and connecting with the anodic terminal and the cathodic terminal, respectively. Since there is no necessity for providing a particular mounting space for the anodic and cathodic terminals, the battery pack may be reduced in size, while the battery pack may be reliably supported with respect to the external equipment in a manner free from wobbling or detachment from the external equipment.

    Abstract: A battery pack having a detection recess formed along a center line of a bottom surface arranged such that the detection recess is engaged with a convexed portion of a battery charger. Therefore, whether or not the battery pack is properly attached to the battery charger can easily be detected by the inclination of the battery pack about the center line. Further, a battery pack is arranged such that an aperture is formed on an outer surface of the battery pack and an output terminal is inwardly disposed on the aperture. Therefore, damage to the batteries in the battery pack caused by a short-circuit resulting from products made of conductive metal material such as a key ring, necklace, or chain contacting both of the output terminals, as occurs when terminals are disposed on the outer surface of the battery pack, can be prevented.

The battery casing comprises positive and negative terminal plates exposed for connection to the respective terminal rods when the battery casing is attached on the electric equipment. The shutter mechanism uncovers the one terminal plate in response to movement of the corresponding one of the terminal rods during the course of attachment of the battery casing on the electric equipment so as to permit the one terminal rod to come into contact with the one terminal plate.
