    Abstract: A thermoplastic resin composition (Y) characterized by comprising (A) 20 to 64.9 wt % one or more ethylene copolymers comprising an ethylene/?-olefin copolymer, (B) 35 to 70 wt % metal hydroxide, and (C) 0.1 to 30 wt % grafted ethylene polymer. The resin composition has excellent flame retardancy and has satisfactory pliability/flexibility and excellent tensile properties. It is suitable for use as an insulating material or sheath for electric wires. Also provided are: a polymer composition (Z) having high flame retardancy, characterized by comprising relative to (AA) 100 parts by weight of a polymer such as a thermoplastic polymer or thermosetting polymer, in the ratio of (BB) 50 to 250 parts by weight of a metal hydroxide, (E) 0.1 to 40 parts by weight of a triazine ring containing compound, and (F) 0.1 to 40 parts by weight of a polyhydric alcohol; and a molded object obtained from the polymer composition. These are suitable for use as an insulating material or sheath for electric wires.

    Abstract: The adhesive ethylene copolymer composition of the invention comprises a specific long-chain branched ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer (or this copolymer and its graft-modified product) and a tackifier (or a specific ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer), and has specific density, MFR, crystallinity and graft quantity. The composition containing the tackifier can form a layer having good adhesive force to polystyrene resins, ABS resin, polyacrylonitrile resins and ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer saponified resins even in an atmosphere of high temperatures. The composition containing the ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer can form a layer having good adhesive force to polyester resins, polycarbonate resins, polyvinylidene chloride resins and ethylene/vinyl acetate saponified resins even in an atmosphere of high temperatures. The other adhesive ethylene copolymer composition of the invention comprises a blend of a graft-modified linear ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer and an olefin elastomer.

The adhesive ethylene copolymer resin composition can be used as a layer to form a laminate with a layer of a polar material or a layer of a metal. The polar material layer can be a layer of an ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer, a layer of a polyamide or a layer of a polyester.

C. and RH of 0%, of not more than 10 cc(STP).mm/m.sup.2.24 hr.atm; said multi-layer laminate having a moisture permeability of not more than 0.2 g.mm/m.sup.2.24 hr.atm and an oxygen permeability of not more than 5 cc(STP).mm/m.sup.2.24 hr.atm. This multi-layer laminate has excellent gas-barrier properties and high rigidity.

    Abstract: An adhesive resin composition contains at least a partially or wholly graft-modified .alpha.-olefin/aromatic vinyl compound random copolymer having a graft quantity of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its derivative ranging from 0.01 to 30% by weight. A laminate comprises (I) a polyester resin layer or a polycarbonate layer, (II) an adhesive layer formed from the above-mentioned adhesive resin composition and (III) a saponified olefin/vinyl acetate copolymer layer. The adhesive resin composition is free from lowering of adhesive strength even when contacted with, for example, hot water. The laminate has excellent gas barrier properties and is capable of being subjected to retorting treatment.
