  • Patent number: 7866863
Abstract: A vehicle headlamp has a segment light source, and a reflector configured to forward reflect light from the segment light source. The segment light source is arranged such that a first predetermined point located at a front end edge of the segment light source is located on a first reference axis. A reflecting surface of the reflector is split into a plurality of reflection regions. At least one of the plurality of reflection regions is constituted as a fan-like reflection region surrounded by a first straight line extending obliquely downward from the first reference axis, and a second straight line extending immediately downward from the first reference axis. The fan-like reflection region is constituted with a curved surface that deflects, diffuses, or reflects the light from the segment light source in a direction orthogonal to the first straight line.

  • Patent number: 7648262
Abstract: By a convex lens arranged on an optical axis extending in a front and rear direction of a lamp unit, direct light from a light emitting element arranged rearward of the convex lens is deflected to emit so that the light is made to be parallel light in a vertical face and diffused light toward left and right sides in a horizontal face. An entire region of a left side lens region of the convex lens is constituted as upper deflecting regions for deflecting light to a direction upward with respect to a direction of light of a right side lens region. Light emitted to the front side by transmitting the respective upper deflecting regions is made to be light directed upward from light emitted from the right side lens region to thereby form a laterally elongated light distribution pattern in which an upper end edge of a portion of being disposed on a left side relative to the optical axis is stepped up from an upper end edge of a portion thereof disposed on a right side.

  • Patent number: 7416322
Abstract: A vehicle light emitting device including a light emitting element, a primary reflector, and a secondary reflector. A reflecting surface of the primary reflector has a shape of a substantially dome-shaped body of revolution formed by rotating about the optical axis Ax an ellipse E which has a primary focal point F1 which is a point near the light emitting element and a secondary focal point F2 which is a point near the reflecting surface. The primary reflector includes a belt-shaped region, which straddles a ring-shaped locus of the secondary focal point F2 and is configured as a light translucent portion, whereby reflected light from the primary reflector is caused to temporarily converge on the secondary focal point F2 in each cross-section of the body of revolution including the optical axis Ax and is thereafter caused to be incident on the secondary reflector as a diffused light.

  • Patent number: 7186009
Abstract: A light source bulb is fixedly inserted into a lateral direction to the optical axis Ax at a position below an optical axis Ax. Accordingly, a region lateral to the optical axis Ax on a reflection surface of the reflector can be effectively utilized for light distribution control. Furthermore, a first additional reflector having a reflection surface of substantially-spheroidal shape whose first focal point is at a position coincident with the light source is disposed at a position above the optical axis Ax. A second additional reflector 36 having a reflection surface of a substantially-parabolic vertical cross-sectional profile whose focal point is coincident with a second focal point of the first additional reflector is disposed at a position below the optical axis. As a result, light from the light source is illuminated forward without passing through a projection lens.
