    Abstract: A control method for an automatic seat belt of an automobile including interconnecting a seat belt mechanism with a door of the automobile to operate the mechanism with opening and closing of the door so that the seat belt is automatically tightened when the door is closed and loosened when the door is opened, further comprising in addition interconnecting the seat belt mechanism with an ignition switch so that the seat belt is automatically turned from the tightened condition to the loosened condition even when the door is still closed if the ignition switch is turned off or an ignition key is removed from the ignition switch.

    Abstract: A passive seat belt apparatus including a lap belt retractor mounted inside of the door of a vehicle, a lap belt extending between the retractor and an engaging member in the interior of the vehicle adjacent the center line thereof, a through ring attached to a lower portion of the door having an oval opening through which the lap belt extends downwardly around a lower surface thereof, and a bar-shaped guide member attached to the door above and inside of the through ring with respect to the interior of the vehicle. The lap belt passes over the guide member.
