  • Patent number: 7473506
Abstract: A method of producing an electrophotographic photoconductor, which prevents filler material in a coating liquid from aggregating onto etching pits formed on a surface of an aluminum raw drum. A photoconductor produced by the method of invention scarcely generates printing defects. The method includes steps of cutting a surface of an aluminum cylindrical substrate, degreasing and cleaning the surface of the aluminum cylindrical substrate with an aqueous detergent after the cutting step, and applying and forming a coating layer containing a filler material on the aluminum cylindrical substrate after the degreasing and cleaning step. • Patent number: 7191625
Abstract: A method of cleaning an aluminum drum substrate that removes cutting chips, and degreases to remove high viscosity drawing oil used in a cold drawing process, without using a chlorine-containing organic solvent. A plurality of aluminum drum substrates are arranged in rows, with an axis of each drum substrate being vertical and parallel with the axis of the other drum substrates. A cleaning liquid is ejected at a predetermined ejection pressure from a high-pressure cleaning nozzle. The cleaning liquid is ejected in a fan shape having a predetermined spread angle and from above a top opening of one of the drum substrates towards the drum substrate. While ejecting the cleaning liquid, the nozzle is horizontally and sequentially traversed above openings of the other drum substrates in a direction of the row, while swinging the nozzle in the direction of the row.

  • Patent number: 6723480
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide an electrophotography photosensitive body substrate, photosensitive body, and electrophotography device used in a contact charging process that can prevent the occurrence of minor insulation damage of around diameter 0.1-0.5 mm. In an electrophotography photosensitive body substrate having a sealed aluminum anodic oxidation film on its surface, the anodic oxidation film is sealed by a sealing agent in which an anion surface active agent is beneficially added.

  • Publication number: 20020119383
Abstract: An electrophotographic apparatus utilizes a photoconductor which avoids a concentration of electric field due to the voltage applied from the charging member to the irregular spot on the outer surface of the cylindrical conductive substrate, and as a result, electrical breakdown of the photosensitive layer is suppressed and lowering of the charged voltage is prevented, so that a critical printing fault, such as a black spot on the printed material, does not occur. The photoconductor includes a cylindrical conductive substrate and an organic photosensitive layer on the outer surface of the substrate, and is used in an electrophotographic system including a contact charging process, wherein the outer surface of the substrate is finished to a mirror surface by means of surface cutting.

  • Patent number: 6224987
Abstract: A conductive substrate of an electrophotographic photoconductor has magnesium suicide precipitated therein as an impurity compound. The conductive substrate has an aluminum oxide film of minimum thickness deviation, and an aluminum base which exhibits a light scattering effect. An electrophotographic photoconductor using such a conductive substrate suppresses interference fringes caused by the interference action of a semiconductor laser light. Furthermore, irregular printing density and the formation of black spots is eliminated. A method for making such a conductive substrate includes annealing an aluminum base doped with silicon and magnesium to precipitate out Ms2Si, followed by anodizing a surface of the aluminum base to form an aluminum oxide film. A charge generation layer and a charge transport layer are formed on the aluminum oxide film to complete the electrophotographic photoconductor.

  • Patent number: 6080491
Abstract: A substrate for an electrophotographic photoconductor having an anodic oxidation film on the surface is subjected to two-step sealing treatment in which the substrate is sealing treated with nickel fluoride as a sealing agent, and then with nickel acetate as a sealing agent. Therefore, an electrophotographic photoconductor using the substrate for an electrophotographic photoconductor is small in charge potential difference between the first turn and the second turn and after, and does not generate a fogged image defect or the like even without preliminary charging before printing.
