  • Patent number: 8532148
Abstract: An inter-vehicle network that connects monitoring and control devices communicating with an intra-vehicle network that couples in-vehicle devices with the monitoring and control devices. A train clock station at an uppermost level in a hierarchical structure and a vehicle clock station in a middle level in a hierarchical structure are established from the monitoring and control devices. Other devices are established as a correction information waiting station at a lowermost level in the hierarchical structure. The train clock station performs a time correction of its own station with time information that is arbitrarily obtained as reference time. The vehicle clock station performs a time correction of its own station based on a message transmitted from the train clock station. The correction information waiting station performs a time correction of its own station based on a message transmitted from the vehicle clock station.

  • Patent number: 8274180
Abstract: A pair of transmission lines 17a, 17b are provided in the train in such a manner that, at each of the two ends of each of the carriage groups, one of the train end detection switches 41 is connected to one of the pair of transmission lines. A resistor 34 is inserted in at least one of the pair of transmission lines, and a voltage detector measures a voltage V1, V2 between the pair of transmission lines at each of both ends of the resistor. A controlling unit controls a first and a second switches 33a, 33b in such a manner that there is only one location within the train where a power supply 31, 32 is inserted between the pair of transmission lines, and the controlling unit recognizes the configuration of the train based on the voltages that have been measured by the voltage detectors.

  • Patent number: 4689602
Abstract: A railway car order selecting system in which data representing the positional order of the various cars of a train and other data is accurately communicated to a central station regardless of the particular arrangement of the cars. A selecting relay applies an input signal to one of plural data transmitting devices, one being located on each car, to select a front car of the train. Extension lines connected into a single line connect the data transmitting devices to one another and are used for selecting the car order. Logic circuits are provided for the extension lines to supply, in response to an output signal from the respective data transmitting devices, a supply voltage to the following data transmitting device. Selection of the front car in this manner results in starting the data transmitting devices on the following cars successively and registering the positional order of the following cars in the data transmitting device at the front car.
