  • Patent number: 7614289
Abstract: A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine can detect knocking of the engine even when an extraction frequency band is switched in accordance with an operating state of the engine. The apparatus includes a knock sensor for detecting vibrations generated in the engine and outputting a vibration detection signal, a rotation sensor for detecting the engine operating state, a SCF circuit for extracting a signal of a specific frequency band from the vibration detection signal and outputting an extracted vibration signal, a filter frequency switching section for switching an extraction frequency band of the filter section in accordance with the engine operating state, and a knocking detection section for detecting knocking of the engine based on the extracted vibration signal. The filter frequency switching section inhibits switching of the extraction frequency band until a switching inhibition period elapses after the switching of the extraction frequency band.

  • Patent number: 6557527
Abstract: Even in the rapid change of a knock sensor output signal level (noise level) at a transition, a knock erroneous judgement due to noise is prevented in a state where knock controllability is secured. It is judged whether or not a transition state occurs, on the basis of a change of an operating state of an internal combustion engine and under a predetermined judgement condition, and in the case where the transition state occurs, at the time of the judgement of the transition state and during a predetermined time after the judgement, a correction value of a peak hold value of the knock sensor output signal is calculated.

  • Patent number: 4903673
Abstract: This invention relates to an ignition distributor for an internal combustion engine and more specifically relates to a novel reluctor included in an ignition distributor for discriminating between cylinders of an engine. The reluctor has an elongated shape and is arranged relative to the rotating shaft of an ignition distributor so that the gravity center of the reluctor is located exactly on the rotational axis of the shaft. This arrangement enables the rotational movement of the shaft to be concentrated, so that the wear to which the bearings supporting the shaft is subjected is significantly reduced. The reluctor is attached to the governor base of an ignition distributor without any rivets by virtue of the novel configuration thereof, so that a reduction in the number of parts can be achieved, together with reduction in the total production cost.

  • Patent number: 4852541
Abstract: A distributor for an internal combustion engine includes an ignition timing reluctor provided on a centrifugal spark advance member, ignition timing signal generating means for generating an ignition timing signal by detecting approach and passage of the ignition timing reluctor, a cylinder discriminating reluctor provided on the centrifugal spark advance member, and a cylinder discriminating sensor for generating a cylinder discriminating signal by detecting approach and passage of the cylinder discriminating reluctor. The distributor has a structure for compensating for any imbalance of its rotator. The cylinder discriminating signal is centrifugally advanced in the same way as the ignition timing signal, so that it is possible to reduce the width of the cylinder discriminating signal.
