  • Publication number: 20050179356
Abstract: A display apparatus includes a face plate that constitutes a part of a vacuum envelope, a phosphor layer formed on an inner surface of the face plate, and an electron beam source that emits electron beams to the phosphor layer. The face plate includes a light-emitting glass layer containing a light-emitting substance that emits light when electron beams are projected thereon. By extracting energy of electron beams, which have reached the face plate, as light, it is possible to reduce browning that occurs in the face plate and improve brightness of a display image significantly.

  • Publication number: 20050146261
Abstract: A reflection film for reflecting electron beams is provided between an inner surface of a face plate and a phosphor layer. The electron beams which pass through a phosphor layer are reflected on the reflection film and are incident on the phosphor layer. Since the electron beams are reflected on the reflection film, the browning of the face plate can be decreased.

  • Patent number: 6753099
Abstract: The present invention provides a green emitting phosphor which includes an excess of the ordinary SiO2 component included in parent material Y2−2xSiO5 activated by Tb in terms of stoichiometric ratio. The composition of the above phosphor is represented by chemical formula: {(Y1−y−zMyGdz)1−xTbx}2(Si1−bGebO2)1+aO3 where values of x, y, z, a, and b are assigned, subject to 0<x≦1, 0≦y≦1, 0≦z≦1, 0<a≦1, and 0≦b≦1, and M is at least one element selected from a group comprising Sc, In, La, Lu, Yb, Ce, Eu, Sm, Tm, Ho, Er, and Nd. By using this phosphor, phosphors that emit light of higher luminance with less luminance degradation and are suitable for high-quality image display and imaging devices producing high-quality images are obtained.

  • Publication number: 20030214222
Abstract: The present invention provides a cathode ray tube which can suppress a coloring phenomenon of a panel glass which is attributed to the irradiation of electron beams. At an electron beam irradiation side of a panel glass PNL of the cathode ray tube PRT, a transparent thin oxide layer TF of an element whose reduction by the irradiation of electron beams is difficult is formed. With the provision of the transparent thin oxide layer TF, the present invention suppresses the coloring phenomenon of the panel glass attributed to the irradiation of electron beams.
