Abstract: Various highly sensitive detection methods, particularly improved PNA-LNA-PCR clamp methods, are provided as methods for detecting the presence or absence of a mutated gene contained in a gene pool rapidly, in a simple manner, with high accuracy, and with high sensitivity. As a step before the main step for detection, a pre-amplification step comprising allowing (1) a clamp primer consisting of PNA which hybridizes with all or part of a target site having a sequence of a wild-type gene or a sequence complementary to the wild-type gene, (2) a primer capable of amplifying a region comprising a target site having a sequence of the mutated gene, and (3) the gene pool to coexist in a reaction solution for gene amplification, and selectively amplifying the region comprising a target site of the mutated gene by a gene amplification method.

  • Patent number: 5436391
Abstract: A synthetic gene encoding an insecticidal protein, the gene is provided having a base sequence which has been modified to bring the codon usage in conformity with the genes of gramineous plants particularly rice plants. A preferred gene sequence is shown in SEQ ID NO: 1. An expression vector containing said structural gene is provided. A method for producing recombinant gramineous plants is provided, which comprises transforming protoplasts derived from gramineous plants with the vector, incubating the protoplasts in a liquid medium in the presence of cultured cells of the plants to form colonies and regenerating plants from said colonies. Recombinant gramineous plants having resistance against insects are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5367128
Abstract: A novel electromagnetic balance-type weighing apparatus according to the invention includes a weighing pan/balance beam assembly (15) whose balance beam is angularly displaced as a function of the weight of an object of weighing placed on the weighing pan. An electromagnetic coil (9) is provided to generate an electromagnetic force that offsets the displacement of the balance beam of the weighing pan/balance beam assembly (15) caused by the weight of the object of weighing. A displacement detector (3, 4, 5) is provided to detect the displacement of the balance beam of the weighing pan/balance beam assembly (15). An operation unit (7) performs operations to determine a control voltage in response to the detection signal transmitted from the displacement detector (3, 4, 5). A current transducer circuit (20) generates an electric current in response to the control voltage applied to it by the operation unit (7) and supplies it to the electromagnetic coil (9).

  • Patent number: 5359154
Abstract: An inverter controlled conveying/measuring apparatus according to the invention includes a conveyor (3) for conveying an object (W) of measurement. The conveyor (3) is driven by an AC motor (M2). Inverter (20) controls and operates the conveyor (3) at a given speed by supplying the AC motor (M2) with frequency converting signals according to a specified frequency. A measuring section (4) is arranged on a conveying path of the conveyor (3) in order to measure an attribute of the object (W) being conveyed by the conveyor (3).
