    Abstract: A lawn mower for directing grass clippings to a grass catcher. The lawn mower includes a vehicle body and a mower unit supported by the vehicle body to be vertically movable for varying a height thereof above the ground. The mower unit includes a housing, cutting blades rotatable about vertical shafts, and a grass clippings discharge channel connected to the housing and opening downward for rearwardly directing grass clippings cut by the cutting blades. The lawn mower further includes a grass collecting duct for connecting a discharge opening of the grass clippings discharge channel to the grass catcher, and a receiving plate having a receiving surface for covering the downward opening of the grass clippings discharge channel.

    Abstract: A reel-type cutting unit including a reel blade for cutting grass in cooperation with a fixed blade. The reel blade is rotatable about a horizontal axis extending transversely of a vehicle body, to move from front to rear relative to the fixed blade with respect to a forward traveling direction of the vehicle body. The cutting unit has a main case surrounding the reel blade to define a space for carrying grass clippings in a rotating direction of the reel blade to a top level of the reel blade. A guide member is connected to the main case for receiving the grass clippings carried to the top level. The guide member defines a grass receiving space having a grass discharge opening. The grass discharge opening is connected to a grass catcher through a duct.

The discharge section has an intake opening for drawing ambient air into the second flow space. The guide plate may be displaceable relative to the blade housing to vary a sectional passage area of the first flow space.

The HST includes an input shaft for transmitting drive from the engine, and an output shaft extending through the hydraulic block for transmitting the drive to a transmission line in the transmission case. The vehicle further includes a drive transmission mechanism for selectively transmitting the drive from the transmission line to rear wheels, and a transmission shaft for transmitting the drive between the drive transmission mechanism and the transmission line in the transmission case. The drive transmission mechanism is attached to the side of the hydraulic block where the HST is attached. The transmission shaft extends through the hydraulic block.
