  • Patent number: 7797930
Abstract: An ECU performs exhaust temperature control based on output values of multiple exhaust temperature sensors provided upstream and downstream of a particulate filter provided in an exhaust passage of an engine. The ECU calculates a change speed deviation value by subtracting change speed of outlet side exhaust temperature, which is sensed by one of the exhaust temperature sensors, from change speed of inlet side exhaust temperature, which is sensed by the other one of the exhaust temperature sensors, in an operation state in which temperature of exhaust gas flowing through the particulate filter changes rapidly. The ECU determines that the exhaust temperature sensors are mounted erroneously if the change speed deviation value deviates from a predetermined normal range.

  • Publication number: 20090158833
Abstract: A fuel injector malfunction monitoring apparatus designed to monitor a malfunction of fuel injectors which are installed in cylinders of an internal combustion engine and work to spray fuel in response to a fuel injection command signal. The apparatus comprises an injector operation disabling circuit and a state monitoring circuit. The injector operation disabling circuit works to disable the fuel injection command signal to place a selected one of the fuel injectors in a non-injection mode during operation of the internal combustion engine for inducing a change in state of the engine arising from stop of spraying of the fuel. The state monitoring circuit works to monitor the state of the internal combustion engine upon placement of the selected one of the fuel injectors in the non-injection mode for use in determining whether the selected on is malfunctioning or not.

  • Patent number: 7222605
Abstract: A throttle control system includes a valve, an electric throttle unit, a control unit, a throttle sensor, a memory device, and a memory execution unit. The throttle control system operates the memory execution unit to allow the memory device to store an opening signal detected by the throttle sensor as a “detected full opening” of the valve, when energization of the electric throttle unit is stopped by the control unit and the valve stops at a “mechanical full opening” by mechanical operation. Thus, it becomes possible to coincide the actual valve opening of the valve and a “control valve opening” which the control unit recognizes. Therefore, it becomes possible to decrease system variation between the electric throttle unit and the control unit. Moreover, a control accuracy of an air intake amount by the throttle control system can be improved.
