Patent number: 4677496Abstract: An image reader applicable to a document or image reading section of a facsimile apparatus or the like and equipped with a line image sensor. Light-sensitive cells of the line image sensor are divided into blocks which in turn are sorted by the order of arrangement into a plurality of groups. Patent number: 4661860Abstract: An image reader for a facsimile apparatus or like image processing apparatus which uses a line image sensor. An array of photodiodes arranged in the line image sensor and switches serially connected in one-to-one correspondence with the photodiodes are divided into a plurality of blocks. These blocks are further divided into a plurality groups. Selection switches are associated one with each of the groups and have their output terminals commonly connected group by group. The common output terminals of the selection switches are connected to different input terminals of differential amplifiers, so that a block to be read and another block which is different in group from that block are simultaneously selected by the selection switches.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1985Date of Patent: April 28, 1987Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventor: Hideyuki Miyazawa

Patent number: 4646155Abstract: An image reader in which a plurality of light-sensitive cells arranged in an array in a line image sensor are divided into a predetermined number of blocks, and the blocks are sequentially selected to sequentially drive the light-sensitive cells in each of the blocks to produce image signals. Charging switches are provided for charging the light-sensitive cells via block selector switches. The charging switches are activated after a signal read time assigned to each light-sensitive cell has expired to thereby shorten the charging time necessary for the light-sensitive cell. The block selector switches are each actuated at a predetermined timing while the charging switches are activated, thereby preventing noise due to switching actions of the block selector switches from being introduced into image signals.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1985Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventors: Hideyuki Miyazawa, Eiji Kamizyo
