  • Patent number: 6937661
Abstract: A video codec (1) is provided in which a frame sync (FS) in base-band video data is delayed a predetermined time. A processor (14) is provided to make interrupt in a timing that is based on the delayed frame sync and make settings for input/output processing with respect to input/output modules (11 and 13). The processor (14) makes interrupt in a timing which is based on any of the delayed frame sync, video clock (V. Clk) and system clock (Sys. Clk) to control encoding or decoding start timing of a codec module (12). Thus, base-band video data can be encoded and decoded in a steady input/output timing.

  • Publication number: 20050078756
Abstract: According to the present invention, it becomes possible to avoid deterioration of image quality even when video image data is transmitted in real time. That is, when creating the first encoded data from the input image data, the skip encoded data which has the data amount less than this first encoded data is created. Then, based on the verification result of the verification means by using the virtual buffer means, the first encoded data is replaced with the skip encoded data, so that it is possible to adjust the data amount of the bit stream output outputted from the data output means.

  • Patent number: 6795498
Abstract: An image processing system comprising a decoder 10 and an encoder 30. The decoder 10 comprises a section 12 for decoding a bit stream to generate image data, generating coding parameters for each layer and generating an error flag indicating whether the coding parameters can be effectively used. The encoder 30 comprises a control section 41, an MB-parameter calculating section 36, an encoding section 38 and a variable-length encoding section 39. The section 41 determines, from the error flag, whether or not the coding parameters can be effectively used or not. The section 36 calculates coding parameters when the coding parameters generated by the section 12 are invalid. The sections 38 and 39 encodes the image data by using the coding parameters generated by the section 12 when these parameters are valid, and by using the coding parameters calculated by the section 36 when the coding parameters generated by the section 12 are invalid.
