Patent number: 7827571Abstract: A disk drive device has a configuration in which one of stepped parts defined by a circular recess for guiding a disc, formed in a disc tray is substantially flush with the bottom surface of the circular recess even in an area beyond the outer peripheral part of a disc so that no air cavity part facing the outer peripheral side surface of the disc is induced around the disc. Thereby, it is possible to aim at lowering cavity noise caused by the air cavity during high speed rotation and fluid noise caused by turbulence.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2005Date of Patent: November 2, 2010Assignee: Hitachi-LG Data Storage, Inc.Inventors: Yoshiaki Yamauchi, Hideyuki Onuma, Kuniyuki Kimura, Sojiro Kirihara, Shinya Tsubota

Patent number: 7617506Abstract: An optical disc apparatus has the following arrangements. Specifically, the optical disc apparatus includes a lock pin and a lock arm. The lock pin is disposed on a side of an inner surface of a case of the apparatus, being tapered in a protruding direction thereof. The lock arm is disposed on a side of a tray of the apparatus. The lock arm, urged by a resilient member, includes a hook portion to be engaged with an inclined surface of the lock pin. When the tray has moved to a predetermined position within the case, the lock arm is engaged with the lock pin, so that the tray is held in position at the predetermined position. When an impact force equal to, or more than, a predetermined value is applied to the optical disc apparatus, the hook portion of the lock arm is displaced in the protruding direction of the lock pin along the inclined surface of the lock pin, thereby disengaged from the lock pin. Engagement of the tray is thereby released.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2006Date of Patent: November 10, 2009Assignee: Hitachi-LG Data Storage, Inc.Inventors: Nozomu Harada, Hideyuki Onuma, Yoshiaki Yamauchi

Patent number: 7340754Abstract: In an optical disk drive device, in order to reduce structural vibration noise and aerodynamic sound during high-speed revolution, a recess is formed at the deeper end. This recess is in a position axially symmetric to a hole for the movement of an optical head with respect to the axis of a spindle motor, and its size is substantially equal to that of the movement hole. This recess serves to suppress the vibration mode of a disk tray and the air flow between the disk and the disk tray. Noise is reduced even when the disk is turning at high speed.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2005Date of Patent: March 4, 2008Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi-LG Storage, Inc.Inventors: Yoshiaki Yamauchi, Hideyuki Onuma, Makoto Ibe, Shinya Tsubota, Kuniyuki Kimura

Publication number: 20070028254Abstract: An optical disc apparatus which has a lock mechanism including a hook to engage with an optical pickup's part which is to be locked. It also has a lock member which turns around a fulcrum as a sliding member slides when an optical disc is loaded or unloaded. When the sliding member is not in touch with the lock member, the hook turns in a direction to engage with the part to be locked and locks the optical pickup, and when the sliding member is in touch with it, the hook turns in a direction to disengage from the part to be locked and unlocks the optical pickup. This improves impact resistance when a disc is unloaded.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 6, 2006Publication date: February 1, 2007Applicant: Hitachi-LG Data Storage, Inc.Inventors: Hideyuki Onuma, Sojiro Kirihara
