  • Publication number: 20090146923
Abstract: A PDP comprises an X electrode and a Y electrode forming a display electrode pair, and an address electrode. Upon a reset discharge for forming charges to all of a plurality of cells, the X electrode becomes a cathode and the Y electrode becomes an anode. On the other hand, upon a sustain discharge for forming a display image, the X electrode and the Y electrode alternately becomes the cathode or the anode so as to repeatedly perform discharges. Here, a distribution of visible light transmissivity inside a cell of a front surface substrate structure has a first region and a second region having a higher visible light transmissivity than the first region, and the first region includes a region superposed with an X transparent electrode in the thickness direction, and the second region includes a region superposed with a Y transparent electrode in the thickness direction.

  • Publication number: 20080272685
Abstract: Hillock is prevented when aluminum wiring is used in order to reduce line resistance in a display unit. The aluminum wiring is formed into multi-layer structure and each layer contains an element which is not solidly solubilized with aluminum. The element are preferably rare earth metal such as Nd, high-melting point transition metals such as Ta and noble metals such as Pd. Intermetallic compounds of aluminum and the element are educed at an interface of the multi-layer wiring and it is prevented that grains of aluminum are enlarged to form hillock.

  • Publication number: 20080024052
Abstract: An electron emission display having a rear board and a front board is apt to cause electric discharge between scanning lines formed on the rear board and an anode formed on the front board. In the electron emission display, the rear board and the front board are each constituted by a flat board and are disposed so that the respective plane surfaces are opposed to each other. Scanning lines and data lines are formed on the plane surface of the rear board. The scanning lines each have an upper surface opposed to the front board and connecting surfaces adjacent to the upper surface and inclined at an angle of 15° to 75° relative to the upper surface. Since the scanning lines are each provided with such inclined connecting surfaces, it is possible to suppress electric discharge between the anode and the scanning lines.

  • Publication number: 20070200484
Abstract: A flat panel display device is provided which prevents color mixture of the phosphor surface thereof to promote high brightness and longer operation life. The flat panel display device is configured such that a front substrate 2 provided with the phosphor surface and a back substrate 1 provided with electron sources 10 arranged in a matrix manner are arranged to be opposed to each other via a support frame 3 and both the substrates 1, 2 and the support frame 3 are hermetically sealed. The electron source 10 has a triangular surface which faces the front substrate 2.

  • Publication number: 20070182312
Abstract: In order too control the non-uniformity of electron emission amount within the surface or between adjacent pixels which is a cause for formation non-uniformity when forming, using anodization, an electron acceleration layer for an MIM type diode element which is appropriate for a thin film electron source, there is provided an insulation layer 12 which forms a MIM type diode element as a non-crystalline oxidized film which is formed by anodization of the surface of a lower electrode 11 with the formation of the lower electrode 11 as laminated layers which have a single layer film of aluminum or aluminum alloy or an outer layer of any of these, with a non-phosphor as a single layer film of aluminum or aluminum alloy which is anodized.

  • Publication number: 20070013289
Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide a display device, particularly to provide a display device that inhibits discharge caused in the operation of the display device utilizing field emission and enables image display for a long time. Discharge between a metal-backed film and an electron emission element is inhibited by forming a plurality of spacers arranged in a display area between a front board and a back board by an insulating material, providing a conductive metallic film on side walls of the spacer and integrating a convex portion protruded on the side of the front board with the conductive metallic film.
