  • Patent number: 7462295
Abstract: A coolant composition having anticorrosion properties against both aluminum and magnesium is provided. A coolant composition comprises a melting point depression agent selected from glycols and alcohols as the main component, and it contains a corrosion inhibitor selected from fluorides and a tribasic acid of an organic carboxylic acid or an alkali metal salt thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 17, 2005
Date of Patent: December 9, 2008
Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Japan Chemical Industries Co.
Inventors: Mikito Nishii, Hiroyuki Arai, Sadayoshi Suzuki, Hideyuki Tami, Shigehiko Sato
  • Publication number: 20070298291
Abstract: When a coolant composition characterized in that ion exchange resin is uniformly dispersed in a water-based coolant is used as a coolant for a fuel cell stack from a viewpoint of high-voltage safety, eluted substance from parts in the cooling system is removed in the initial stages and with the passage of time, so as to stably maintain insulation properties of the coolant.

  • Patent number: 5718836
Abstract: A liquid coolant composition with improved anti-corrosive property contains 85-99 weight % of an agent for lowering the melting point selected from the group consisting of alcohols and glycol, and 1-15 weight % of a rust preventive composition. The rust preventive composition contains 0.00005-0.02 weight % at elemental metal concentration of calcium compounds or a mixture of 0.00005-0.02 weight % each of calcium and magnesium compounds, and at least one kind of rust preventive selected from the group consisting of phosphates, borates, nitrates, molybdates, benzoates, silicates, triazoles, thiazoles, sebacic acid and octylic acid. Still better results are obtained if 0.001-0.02 weight % of at least one kind of polyphosphoric or polycarboxylic acids is additionally contained.
