  • Patent number: 4689545
Abstract: A control apparatus for a battery charging generator for use in a vehicle in which a voltage regulator for regulating the output of the generator is controlled by a reference voltage generating unit in response to a signal representing acceleration (an operating state) for gradually changing the output voltage of the generator until the output voltage is below the battery terminal voltage so that the vehicle's engine runs smoother and changes of intensity in a lighting device included in the load occur gradually and are not visually noticeable.

    Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki Kaisha
Inventors: Keiichi Komurasaki, Hifumi Wada, Shinji Nishimura
  • Patent number: 4686446
Abstract: A control apparatus for a vehicle alternating current generator comprising a switching device operable in response to the detection of an operating state temperature to control the field current of the generator independently of another switching device performing a field current control based on the output voltage of the generator, thereby to limit the output current of the generator.

  • Patent number: 4651081
Abstract: A control apparatus for a vehicular charging generator utilizing various sensors which detect an unstable rotation during the starting of an engine, the acceleration/deceleration condition of the engine, an overload condition of the engine etc. to regulate the output voltage of the generator by a micro-computer, whereby the rotation of the engine is stabilized and the acceleration performance is enhanced due to a reduction of the load of the generator while and over-discharge of the battery is effectively compensated. Also, various abnormal conditions are detected by the sensors and indicated.

  • Patent number: 4634955
Abstract: A malfunction detector for detecting an open-circuit condition at the output terminal of a vehicular DC generator is disclosed. The frequency of a signal derived from one of the armature windings of the generator, for instance, at an end or neutral terminal, is compared with the control frequency of the voltage regulator, which may be derived from a field winding of the generator. If the latter is equal to the former, an indication of an open-circuit condition is given.

  • Patent number: 4607246
Abstract: Various malfunctions of a DC generator equipped with a voltage regulator and malfunction indicator are indicated distinguishably by detecting terminal voltages of a field winding and an armature winding of the DC generator and supplying a signal to the malfunction indicator, the signal being variable according to the type of malfunction. For example, the lighting interval of an indicator lamp is varied in accordance with the type of malfunction.
