  • Patent number: 4316874
Abstract: A gas generator for instantaneously supplying a gas to an inflatable bag such as a gas bag for protection of a car passenger from injuries in a collision, of the type comprising a solid gas-generating composition confined in a reaction chamber defined in a housing having a perforated wall. The reaction chamber is bounded by a wire screen which is spaced from the perforated wall, and another wire screen is arranged along the inside of the perforated wall. Adequately sized granules of SiC are packed in a space bounded by the two wire screens to efficiently absorb heat and remove solid matter from the generated gas without offering an unduly great resistance to the gas flow. Best cooling and filtering effects can be gained by the use of .alpha.-SiC granules of a sharp-edged particle shape.

  • Patent number: 4246672
Abstract: An automatic inflatable safety work vest in which a gas is automatically charged into a gas tight chamber forming a floating body upon contacting water, comprises a back part of the vest formed of a non-floating material, a floating body provided at the front of the vest and connected with stretchable bands to the back part and having a gas tight chamber, a pillow integrally formed at the upper portion of the vest which communicates with the gas tight chamber, the pillows being folded over and releasably attached to the outer surface of the back part and a gas charging device in communication with the gas tight chamber and connected to the floating body through a connector, the gas charging device being a flat cylindrical vessel provided with a gas outlet at the bottom surface, a pair of electrodes positioned oppositely and fixed at a side wall near an upper cover portion of the cylindrical vessel, an electric switch provided at the upper portion of the cylindrical vessel and connecting to the electrodes and

  • Patent number: 4094028
Abstract: An automatically inflating lifesaving buoy device having a gas generating device in which the gas generating composition is ignited by an electric ignition device powered by a water-activated electric cell or battery. The gas then generated is cooled as it flows into an inflatable bag to form the lifesaving buoy.
