  • Patent number: 5836813
Abstract: An inside air/outside air switching case employing a rotary door, since an introduced air flows along an inner surface of a circumferential wall of the rotary door, an air flow guiding portion constructed of a plurality of protruding portions formed in a corrugated shape of concavities and convexities is formed on an inner surface of the circumferential wall of the rotary door. In this way, the air flow directed toward a suction inlet is made uniform by means of the guiding portion, and the air flow noise can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 5778843
Abstract: According to the present invention, an oil storage chamber for temporarily accumulating a high-viscosity oil is formed below a heat-generating chamber for accumulating high-viscosity oil which generates heat when a shearing force is applied thereto. When an electromagnetic coil of an electromagnetic clutch is set off, i.e., a rotation of a rotor of a viscous heater is stopped, the high-viscosity oil in the heat-generating chamber moves into the oil storage chamber by own weight thereof, and a liquid level of the high-viscosity oil in the heat-generating chamber is greatly reduced. In this way, when the electromagnetic coil of the electromagnetic clutch is turned on to start the rotor of the viscous heater, a torque applied to the rotor is greatly reduced, with the result that a stress applied to the rotor is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5779141
Abstract: A heating apparatus of a re-heat type for an air conditioning system for a vehicle provided with an internal combustion engine. The heating apparatus includes a flow control valve for controlling an amount of an engine hot water directed to a heat exchanger for heating. When the degree of the opening of the flow control valve is 2/8 or less and when the target degree of the opening of the flow control valve is 2/8 or more, a control of the degree of the opening of the flow control valve to the target opening plus a predetermined overshoot amount is initially executed, which is followed by a control to the target opening. When both of the initial and target opening is larger than 2/8 or the initial and target opening are identical, the overshoot control is not carried out, i.e., the degree of the opening of the flow control valve is directly controlled to the target value.

  • Patent number: 5762266
Abstract: The total flow rate of the hot water flowing to a first heater core and a second heater core is controlled by a total flow rate control valve, and then the flow rate of the hot water to each of the heater cores is distributed by a distribution valve. According to this configuration, the flow rate of the hot water flowing through each of the heater cores is linearly controlled. Therefore, the heating of the driver's seat space by the first heater core and the heating of the air conditioning of the passenger's seat space by the second heater core can be linearly controlled.

  • Patent number: 5644929
Abstract: A heat regenerating type cooling apparatus includes a heat regenerating evaporator encased in a case and provided with a tube for a cooling medium and a heat regenerating pack arranged to be in close contact with the outer surface of the tube of the heat regenerating evaporator. The heat regenerating evaporator conducts a refrigeration cycle while a vehicle is running and cools the heat regenerating pack so as to cause a heat regenerating material within the pack to freeze When the vehicle is parked, a blower is operated to cause a current of air that is cooled by the heat regenerating pack due to heat exchange between the current of air and the frozen heat regenerating material in the heat regenerating pack. The cold air is blown out into an objective cooling area, such as a sleeping area of the vehicle, from a blowing port so that the objective cooling area is air-conditioned, and the upper half of the body of a sleeping person in the area is effectively exposed to air-conditioned air.

  • Patent number: 5643079
Abstract: A filter is disposed so as to cross at right angle to an airflow from an inside air inlet and an outside air inlet to an inlet port. The filter is made of a filter element formed in a corrugated shape by folding and is deformable so that a width of the filter in the axis direction of said rotary door could be shortened. Thus, it is possible to shorten the width of the filter in the axial direction of the rotary shaft by deforming the outer shape of the filter, therefore, the filter is easily taken out from the inside air inlet. Furthermore, since the filter can be taken out from the inside air inlet, the filter can be attached or detached without disassembling the inside and outside air switching case and casing for a blower fan, the working efficiency for cleaning and changing the filter being thereby improved.

  • Patent number: 5340021
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to supply air to passengers in an automobile so that they will feel more comfortable in the presence of solar radiation by suppressing a rise in temperature in a vehicle passenger compartment caused by solar radiation. There is provided a cold air damper which feeds cold air immediately after an evaporator to a face blow port and mixes it with the conditioned air that has passed through an air mixing damper, with the amount of blown air is changed by a blower fan. A control means detects the amount of solar radiation present by using a solar radiation sensor. This invention calculates the temperature of air blown out in the absence of solar radiation, calculates the temperature of air blown out in the presence of solar radiation, calculates a corrected blowing rate according to a thermal equilibrium equation in the presence of solar radiation, and calculates a blowing rate in the presence of solar radiation.

  • Patent number: 5337802
Abstract: An air-conditioning apparatus for a vehicle having separate units for a driver's seat and an assistant driver's seat. Each of the units has first and second vent outlets opened to a cabin near the lateral side of the cabin and the center side of cabin. A sensor is provided for detecting an amount of the solar radiation. The sensor also can detect an azimuth angle and elevation angle of the sun with respect to the direction of movement. An increase in the thermal load due to the solar radiation is determined, and the calculated increase is allocated to the first and second vent outlets by changing the temperature and/or the amount of the air discharged from the respective outlets, so that the passenger can feel a uniform temperature irrespective of the position of the sun with respect to the direction of movement of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5181654
Abstract: An air conditioner for use with a car employing a sunshine sensor having three light receiving elements. A first light receiving element faces upward and a second light receiving element and a third light receiving element are inclined toward a front side by an identical angle along an advancing direction of the car and are symmetrically inclined with respect the car advancing direction along a horizontal direction vertical to the car advancing direction. The inclination is determined such that a vector obtained by adding normal vectors respectively of light receiving surfaces of the light receiving elements has a direction substantially identical to a direction of sunshine which maximizes a quantity of heat supplied from the sunshine to the car. Outputs from the first, second, and third light receiving elements are added to each other to obtain a sunshine intensity.

  • Patent number: 5160115
Abstract: The apparatus for controlling a damper in an air conditioning system for a vehicle. The damper is used for selectively opening air outlets, and is constructed as a film damper having one end wound on a drive shaft rotatably supported in a casing. The drive shaft is formed as a hollow shaft having an axial bore therein, in which an electric motor with a reduction gear is arranged. The outer body of the motor is fixedly inserted to the shaft, and has an output shaft fixedly connected to the casing, so that a rotation of the motor causes a relative rotation between the motor body connected to the hollow shaft and the outlet shaft connected to the casing. As a result of the rotation of the motor body, the drive shaft is rotated, resulting in a desired movement of the film damper.
