  • Patent number: 5935520
Abstract: A dry analytical substantially flat film chip for use as an analytical element composed of a support, at least one reagent layer and a spreading layer laminated in this order. The chip is suitable for use as is as an analytical element for liquid samples. The chip further has means for restraining a liquid sample applied to its surface from spreading beyond a predetermined area of the surface. The restraining means may be a fused nonporous area of the spreading layer or may be a portion or area of the spreading layer which has been clogged with a hydrophobic or lipophilic material to render it nonporous. The inventive film chip, in addition, provides means for preventing fraying of the edges of the porous spreading layer as well as the prevention of the generation of fiber dust during cutting of the chip.

  • Patent number: 5569287
Abstract: A means for collecting and spotting a small amount of blood which comprises a cylinder, a piston, and a puncturing tip, wherein: the piston is inserted airtightly into one end of the cylinder; the puncturing tip is airtightly and exchangeably fitted onto another end of the cylinder; the puncturing tip comprises a blood conduit and a needle suspended by a spring within the blood conduit; the blood conduit has a volume which is equal to a volume of blood to be spotted to analytical means; and the needle is arranged to be pushed out from the puncturing tip by descent of the piston and then return back by ascent of the piston.

  • Patent number: 5538688
Abstract: A cartridge for storing a plurality of stacked chips having an exit for taking out the end dry analytical film chip one by one which are pushed toward the exit, and a flexible engager for inhibiting the discharge of the end chip. The exit and the engager are provided at an end portion of a side wall of the casing, the opening being provided at an end of the casing, and the flexible engager has a strength capable of releasing the end chip from the conveyor but is also capable of holding the second end, wherein the exit and the engager are provided at an end portion of a side wall of the casing, the opening being provided at an end of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4103575
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a continuously horizontally moving web into desired lengths comprises a first slider crank mechanism 21 for horizontally reciprocating a first slider 71 mounting relatively reciprocable cutting edges 81, 82 disposed below and above the web, a second slider crank mechanism 22 for vertically reciprocating the upper cutting edge 82 via a second slider 72 to sever the web, and a third slider crank mechanism 23 for horizontally reciprocating a third slider 73 mounting a torque balancing weight 83. All three mechanisms are driven by a common rotary shaft 13, and the angles between the crank arms of the mechanisms and the magnitude of the balancing weight are selected such that the shaft torque is substantially constant over the cutting region whereat the first slider moves at a substantially constant speed approximately equal to that of the travelling web.
