    Abstract: A method of combatting cellulosic fibre web degradation which method comprises permeating a stack of cellulosic fibre webs with an amine vapor, characterized in that said method comprises disposing an amine-immobilizing agent to immobilize amine vapor which has passed through at least part of said stack. Thus for example a book deteriorating with age can be treated by putting a charcoal containing sachet inside the front and back covers and by interleaving the rest of the book, every 20 to 50 pages or so, with sachets containing cyclohexylamine carbonate.
