Patent number: 5660041Abstract: A process for adjusting the characteristics of infinitely variable transmissions of a vehicle with two drive mechanisms including detecting the output speeds of the transmissions and comparing them by means of an operating variable to determine the gear ratio. Adjusting the gear ratio as a function of a deviation for matching the characteristics. The characteristics are completely carried out for the operating variable and are detected and stored in a close point sequence by measuring the output speeds. When the vehicle is travelling, the deviations of the characteristics are compensated by an electronic unit which influences the predetermined operating variables so that when the transmissions are operated with the same predetermined operating variable, the output speeds are identical despite different characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1995Date of Patent: August 26, 1997Assignee: Linde AktiengesellschaftInventors: Erwin Hartung, Hilmar Strenzke

Patent number: 5533867Abstract: A hydrostatic drive system including an adjustable pump and a hydraulic fluid delivery line connecting the outlet of the pump to the inlet of a hydraulic energy consuming device. An adjustable throttle is located in the hydraulic fluid delivery line between the outlet of the pump and the inlet of the hydraulic energy consuming device. A load-sensing controller is connected to the hydraulic fluid delivery line on opposite sides of the throttle and is operatively connected to the pump to determine the displacement of the pump and to reproduce the pressure drop at the throttle. The load-sensing controller coordinates the pressure difference, .DELTA.p, and the size of the opening of the throttle in accordance with the set speed of movement of the hydraulic energy consuming device.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1994Date of Patent: July 9, 1996Assignee: Linde AktiengesellschaftInventor: Hilmar Strenzke

Patent number: 5145238Abstract: A method for braking a wheeled vehicle which has at least one adjustable hydrostatic drive unit with a variable displacement pump and a motor and a driving engine wherein the vehicle driving engine absorbs a drag moment and the kinetic energy of the vehicle is partially reduced hydraulically after the maximum drag moment which is absorbable by the vehicle driving engine is exceeded. In the method positive hydraulic braking is achieved when a limiting rpm of the driving engine is exceeded and the vehicle is braked to a speed at which the incline output power is less than or of the same magnitude as the drag power which is absorbable by the driving engine.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1990Date of Patent: September 8, 1992Assignee: Linde AktiengesellschaftInventors: Hilmar Strenzke, Erwin Hartung

Patent number: 5117632Abstract: In a method for operating a drive unit comprised of an internal combustion engine and a hydraulic aggregate group, the amount of fuel supplied to the engine is limited by a proportionally acting RPM regulator. When the engine is overloaded the power absorption of the hydraulic aggregate group is reduced by an electronic maximum load regulator and under no-load operation the engine is shifted from an automatic idling circuit to the idling speed after a specified time and the power absorption of the aggregate group is reduced to a minimum. For partial-load operation, the power absorption of the aggregate group can be limited selectably to a power below the maximum power put out by the engine. In order to render such a process more economical, the engine is operated in the range of the idling control characteristic during partial-load operation.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1990Date of Patent: June 2, 1992Assignee: Linde AktiengesellschaftInventor: Hilmar Strenzke

Patent number: 5111658Abstract: A method a braking a vehicle which has a drive motor, a hydrostatic drive unit including adjustable hydraulic machines having adjusting devices, and an electronic subassembly controlling the adjusting devices of the hydraulic machines. Continuous adjustment of the hydraulic machines permits the drive motor to exert a braking moment that slows the movement of the vehicle. The method includes rapidly adjusting the hydraulic machines by the electronic subassembly toward a setting that relieves the drive motor completely or partially after a limiting rpm value on the drive motor is exceeded and the higher pressure present in the hydrostatic drive unit reduces the braking energy through the adjusting devices until the speed of the drive motor drops below the limiting rpm value. At this time, the electronic subassembly again adjusts the hydraulic machines to utilize the braking moment.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1990Date of Patent: May 12, 1992Assignee: Linde AktiengesellschaftInventors: Hilmar Strenzke, Norbert Fehn

Patent number: 5080062Abstract: A method for operating a drive unit comprised of an internal combustion engine having a hydraulic aggregate group connected to it. The amount of fuel supplied to the engine in the upper idling speed range is limited by a proportionally acting speed regulator. The power consumption of the hydraulic aggregate group is reduced by a maximum load regulator when the engine is overloaded. Theretofore the hydraulic aggregate group is adjusted toward a lower power consumption after the engine speed drops below an arbitrarily rated RPM which is monitored by the maximum load regulator. In order to facilitate a variable power limitation without the use of a hydraulic power limiter, the working RPM of the maximum load regulation is set at an arbitrary value corresponding to a desired power output between the nominal speed of the engine and the upper idling speed of the engine.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1991Date of Patent: January 14, 1992Assignee: Linde AktiengesellschaftInventor: Hilmar Strenzke

Patent number: 5043648Abstract: A nominal value is supplied both to a control in a first channel and to a regulator in a second channel parallel to the first channel. The control signal and the regulation signal are transmitted to an apparatus to be regulated. The regulation signal is monitored by a regulator monitoring unit, which generates a shutdown signal when a certain regulation signal level is exceeded and thereby controls or regulates the apparatus into a safe state of operation. In order to effect the regulation, an apparatus output quality is detected by a sensor and the output signal from the sensor is substracted from the nominal value at the input of the second channel. Due to the installation of a control in the first channel, only a single sensor is required for secure two-channel regulation.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1990Date of Patent: August 27, 1991Assignee: Linde AktiengesellschaftInventor: Hilmar Strenzke

Patent number: 4884402Abstract: A hydrostatic drive assembly with an adjustable pump driven by a primary power source, which acts on several consumers of hydrostatic energy, is disclosed which has a control and regulating device with nominal speed value pickups and adjustable restrictors for each consumer. In order to obtain a control and regulating device at a low production cost, one that operates with a low power loss, it is proposed that the nominal speed value pickup send an electric signal to an electronic control device, that each consumer be provided with an actual speed value pickup, which the control device, and the restrictors assigned to each of the consumers in their connection lines are designed as electromagnetic throttle valves controlled by the electronic control device.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1988Date of Patent: December 5, 1989Assignee: Linde AktiengesellschaftInventors: Hilmar Strenzke, Norbert Fehn

Patent number: 4785777Abstract: An electric control device for regulating the r.p.m. of a piston internal combustion engine is disclosed. The device has an integral r.p.m. regulator with an output connected to a final control element regulator electrically connected to an electromagnet that actuates an adjusting element of the engine. A nominal value signal and a signal from a tachometer are fed to the r.p.m. regulator. A current regulator is electrically connected between the r.p.m. regulator and the final control element regulator. The current regulator is acted upon by both a signal from the electromagnet and the r.p.m. regulating means by a summing element to control the final control regulator which acts on the electromagnet.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1987Date of Patent: November 22, 1988Assignee: Linde AktiengesellschaftInventors: Gerhard Hock, Hilmar Strenzke
