  • Publication number: 20080090573
Abstract: A method and apparatus for increasing the success rate of a handover of a connected mode UE while minimizing the power consumption of the UE during DRX operation in a mobile communication system is provided. The method includes the steps of transmitting a cell change report to the serving base station, and then suspending the DRX operation to transition to an active mode; receiving a handover command message, and completing the handover to a target cell; checking if the handover command message includes a DRX resume command; waiting until a control message including the DRX resume command is received from the target base station; and after the control message including the DRX resume command is received, transitioning from the active mode to a sleep mode, and resuming the DRX operation.

  • Publication number: 20070283032
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving a status report in a mobile communication system where Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) and Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) operate together. An ARQ receiving (Rx) entity determines whether transmission of the status report is permitted, if a predetermined status report generation condition is satisfied. If the transmission of the status report is permitted, the ARQ Rx entity generates a status report depending on a reception status of ARQ packets received up to the time the transmission of the status report is permitted, and transmits the generated status report to an ARQ transmitting (Tx) entity through an allocated transmission resource. The ARQ Tx entity determines an initial reception time of an HARQ packet including the status report as a generation time of the status report, and performs retransmission according to the status report.

  • Publication number: 20070280193
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for performing Automatic Retransmission reQuest (ARQ) in a mobile communication system including an ARQ layer and a Hybrid ARQ (HARQ) layer. The method includes receiving from an ARQ receiving (Rx) entity a status report indicating a reception status of ARQ packets; detecting an ARQ packet having a transmission completion time going ahead of a generation time of the status report, among the ARQ packets whose transmission was completed by an ARQ transmitting (Tx) entity; and retransmitting an ARQ packet not ACK/NACK-ed by the status report, among the detected ARQ packets.

  • Publication number: 20070109964
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a happy bit indicating whether a UE needs additional resources for uplink data transmission in a mobile communication system supporting an uplink packet data service are provided. The UE sets a happy bit for a current process based on a different criterion, depending on the current process is an active process activated for scheduled transmission or an inactive process allowed for non-scheduled transmission. A Node B interprets happy bits received for a plurality of processes and interprets them according to the types of the processes. Then the Node B determines an allowed maximum data rate and the number of active processes for the UE and schedules uplink data transmission for the UE according to the determination result.

  • Publication number: 20070091810
Abstract: A method and terminal apparatus for transmitting a status report comprising a received status of packet data in a mobile communication system are provided, in which whether transmission of an implicit Negative Acknowledge (NACK) signal is required for requesting retransmission of at least one non-received data packet whose sequence number is unidentified is determined, if transmission of the implicit NACK signal is required, the implicit NACK signal including a sequence number of the last packet is generated among successfully received data packets, and a status report including the implicit NACK signal is transmitted to the transmitter, and if transmission of the implicit NACK signal is not required, a status report is transmitted to the transmitter including at least one of an ACK signal comprising a sequence number of a successfully received data packet and an explicit NACK signal comprising a sequence number of a non-received data packet whose sequence number is identified.

  • Publication number: 20070060139
Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling efficient use of radio resources by reducing an RLC PDU size in a mobile communication system supporting voice service over a packet network are provided. An RLC layer constructs an RLC PDU without inserting information indicating the start and end of an SDU or indicating the use or non-use of padding. The RLC layer sets an LI in a header to indicate inclusion of an intermediate SDU segment in the data field of the RLC PDU. Therefore, the resulting decrease of overhead arising from packet transmission facilitates the efficient use of limited radio resources.

  • Publication number: 20060171355
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting session non-interest indication information for a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) service of a user equipment (UE) in an MBMS system. A serving radio network controller (SRNC) determines whether the UE desires to receive a current session for an MBMS service joined by the UE. The SRNC transmits session non-interest indication information for the MBMS service of the UE to a drift radio network controller (DRNC) according to the determination result. The DRNC includes the UE in an MBMS context for the MBMS service and determines whether to exclude the UE from counting for the MBMS service according to the session non-interest indication information of the UE.
