  • Patent number: 6636328
Abstract: A printer that uses a number of control state machines to reconfigure logic array circuitry to perform image data processing in preparation for printing. The logic array circuitry is programmable and adaptable to accommodate a wide variety of printer components characteristic to digital image printing systems. The logic array circuitry is reconfigured, depending on the particular printer in which the invention is implemented, by the control state machines as they receive control state machine conditions corresponding to the printer components characteristic to that specific digital image printer. For example, the physical, mechanical, and electrical characteristics of the printer constitute the printer component that modify the control state machine conditions which in turn govern the configuration of the logic array circuitry through the control state machines.

  • Publication number: 20030193552
Abstract: An ink cartridge with ink level indication for containing dispensable ink is disclosed. The ink cartridge includes a cartridge body and a reservoir for receiving and storing ink within the cartridge body. The reservoir is filled with a porous material member. A window is supported by the cartridge body to be disposed adjacent the porous material member. The window interacts with the porous material member to define porous material member portions of predetermined increasing capillarities. Each portion is able to retain ink therein for viewing through the window depending on its capillarity and the amount of ink in the reservoir to thereby provide an overall indication of the amount of ink in the print cartridge.

  • Patent number: 6632690
Abstract: A method of fabricating laminate assemblies determines the ideal weight (W) of underfill to be dispensed, based on the size of the semiconductor die and the gap between the die and the laminate substrate. Underfill is dispensed in a single step in an amount between 1.1W and 1.3W to form fillets that cover at least 15% of the height of the semiconductor die on all four sides of the die. The amount of underfill ensures that the fillet coverage imbalance is 30% or less for each of the pairs of opposing sides of the die, thereby improving solder joint reliability.

  • Publication number: 20030190705
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for making immune system molecules, particularly humanized antibodies and fragments thereof. A typical method optimizes similarity between individual antibody framework regions to help identify human framework regions suitable for making the molecules. Comparisons between larger antibody frameworks, hypervariable domains or both is avoided. Also disclosed are antibodies that have been humanized by the method. The invention has a wide spectrum of applications including use in the production of humanized monoclonal antibodies with suitable binding affinity and minimized human immunogenicity.

  • Patent number: 6631338
Abstract: A local driver circuit to drive a logic voltage at an output pad includes an adder having K bits to add a K-bit control value to a local value, the adder producing a K-bit calibrated value. The circuit further includes K field-effect transistors (FETs), the drain of each FET being coupled to the output pad, and logic circuitry to perform a logical-AND function between a data input and the K-bit calibrated value. The logic circuitry providing a K-bit output with each of the K output bits being coupled to the gate of a corresponding one of the FETs. A comparator produces a correction value from a comparison of the logic voltage at the output pad and a reference voltage. A control unit sets a least significant bit (LSB) portion of the local value responsive to the correction value so as to make the logic voltage at the output pad in the reference voltage substantially equal.

  • Publication number: 20030185007
Abstract: A colorful pattern lighting structure comprises a core wire, a light string which is formed by a plurality of miniature bulbs sequentially connecting each other, multi-sectional thermal shrink membranes of different colors being sequentially disposed along the outside of the core wire, and a housing provided on the thermal shrink membranes. The present invention employs a structure of providing color thermal shrink membranes onto a core wire in order to conveniently form a colorful lighting string in accordance with the desired pattern. It successfully overcomes the problem existing in the conventional colorful lighting which needs to trim the wires and rearrange the connecting devices, thereby saving costs, reducing manufacturing procedures, ensuring waterproof, achieving high reliability. In addition, the present invention can ensure a uniform color on the lighting. The gap between two colors is considerably small in order to obtain a lighting string having high-density and changeable color combination.

  • Publication number: 20030170248
Abstract: The present invention describes the preparation and use of biologically and immunologically active humanized monoclonal antibodies to Shiga toxin, a toxin associated with HC and the potentially life-threatening sequela HUS transmitted by strains of pathogenic bacteria. The present invention describes how these humanized antibodies may be used in the treatment or prevention of Shiga toxin induced diseases. One aspect of the invention is the humanized monoclonal antibody which binds Shiga toxin where the constant regions are IgG1-kappa and the variable regions are murine in origin. Yet another aspect of the invention is expression vectors and host cells transformed with such vectors which express the humanized monoclonal antibodies of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20030167417
Abstract: A method, system, and device capable of generating one or more clocks internally to detect, sample, and receive synchronous data streams and eliminate the need for corresponding external synchronization clocks for each data stream. One aspect of the clock generator provides a two-stage interpolation system. In a first stage, two clocks are selected which accurately detect a calibration data sample. In a second stage, a single, fine-tuned, clock is synthesized by interpolating the two selected clocks.

  • Publication number: 20030164809
Abstract: This invention provides a solid-state lighting array driving circuit in which a plurality of solid-state lighting devices such as LEDs are rearranged in a reconfigurable circuit. The circuit may be changed to incorporate the LEDs into a larger or fewer number of parallel circuits each containing less or more LEDs themselves respectively. The reconfiguration may be done as a result of variable input voltages such that the circuit may reconfigure to provide a preferred number of LEDs in each circuit for the sensed voltage in the circuit.

  • Patent number: 6610293
Abstract: The present invention encompasses monoclonal and chimeric antibodies that bind to lipoteichoic acid of Gram positive bacteria. The antibodies also bind to whole bacteria and enhance phagocytosis and killing of the bacteria in vitro and enhance protection from lethal infection in vivo. The mouse monoclonal antibody has been humanized and the resulting chimeric antibody provides a previously unknown means to diagnose, prevent and/or treat infections caused by gram positive bacteria bearing lipoteichoic acid. This invention also encompasses a peptide mimic of the lipoteichoic acid epitope binding site defined by the monoclonal antibody. This epitope or epitope peptide mimic identifies other antibodies that may bind to the lipoteichoic acid epitope. Moreover, the epitope or epitope peptide mimic provides a valuable substrate for the generation of vaccines or other therapeutics.
