  • Patent number: 6293250
Abstract: An apparatus for producing a variable volumetric flow in a fuel feed system includes a high-pressure pump having at least one inlet, at least one cylinder, at least one piston each moveable in a respective cylinder, and a shaft driving the at least one piston. A metering device is disposed in the at least one inlet of the high-pressure pump, is synchronized with the shaft and feeds a variably meterable volume of fuel to the at least one cylinder during each revolution of the shaft. Metering is performed by varying an angle between opening and closure of the at least one inlet.

  • Patent number: 6276336
Abstract: A pressure reserve for a common rail fuel supply system has outlet connections communicating with injection valves. The outlet connections are disposed in end pieces connected to an elongated hollow body. This disposition of the outlet connections assures that pressure surges that occur in the pressure reservoir have only a very slight influence on the injection events. In addition, economical production of the pressure reservoir is possible.

  • Patent number: 6194812
Abstract: A device for transmitting a deflection of a piezoelectric actuator to a movable tappet includes a pressure chamber between the piezoelectric actuator and the tappet. The pressure chamber is substantially formed by two mutually parallel diaphragms having effective radii of different lengths. The diaphragm with the longer radius is associated with the piezoelectric actuator and the diaphragm with the shorter radius is associated with the tappet. Therefore, upon a deflection of the first diaphragm by the piezoelectric actuator, the second diaphragm is deflected by a greater distance toward the tappet. A controller with an actuator having a controllable length is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5971718
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for regulating a volumetric fuel flow regulate a fuel flow delivered by a feed pump to a high-pressure pump of an injection system as a function of a volumetric fuel discharged from a high-pressure reservoir through a high-pressure regulating valve. The regulation is effected through the use of a pressure regulating valve or a volumetric flow regulating valve.

  • Patent number: 5806766
Abstract: An electrohydraulically actuatable injection valve includes a control piston which divides an annular conduit from a control chamber disposed between the control piston and an actuator rod. A spring is disposed between the control piston and the actuator rod. The annular conduit also communicates through a control valve with a drain. If the control valve is closed with the injection valve open, the control piston opens a communication between the annular conduit and the control chamber, so that a nozzle needle is pressed onto an associated valve seat and abruptly stops the injection.
